Ajax have a Cup tie with Utrecht this Wednesday. The club had just bad luck in the draw a) not getting the bye as did Feyenoord and AZ, and b) drawing a tough opponent. It looks like Quincy Promes may be finished with Ajax depending on the court case regarding the stabbing incident. I don't know which of the injured players will be back for this match and what lineup ETH can put out on the pitch. I will miss the game because of several business Zoom meetings on Wednesday. Since Cup games are not carried by ESPN over here, there won't be a replay to watch.

Missing Promes,Timber injured, Huntelaar and Kleiber both suspended. Kudus is training again but not sure he is ready to play as a sub. Forget the 2nd goalie and we have 15 first teamers left but 5 of them were injured last Saturday.( Brobbey not included in the 5 as he is still a Jong player along with Rensch and Taylor)

We should rest every one and play mainly a Jong side with Martinez ,Alvarez and maybe Labyad and Ekkelenkamp if either are fit.

Utrecht are also missing some key players from injuries as well. It's a joke to think that teams can play twice a week.

Scherpen,Rensch,Schuurs,Blind,Tagliafico,Alvarez,Gravenberch ,Klaassen,Antony,Labyad,Tadic. Only other 1st teamers on the bench Martinez and Ekkelenkamp. 5 Jong players but why de Waal over Hansen.

Given Martinez is again not picked and we end up with the weak Alvarez I would see Martinez looking for a move next month.
Blind should be rested today. As for Alvarez Taylor should be playing DMF.

KJH and Kleiber are only suspended but not sure how many of the injured will be fit on Sunday. Resting only one first teamer
with 6 injured is a hugh risk with 2 league games in the next week.

So far we went 0-1 down in the 1st minute due to clumsy loss of possession. Now it’s 1-1 due to a Tadic freekick where the ball took a deflection from a Utrecht defender.

I found some streams but they go in and out. I saw all three goals so that is a plus. Labyad scored in stoppage time to make it 2-1. Utrecht lost their keeper due to injury. Really don't know why Martinez is not playing. Maybe he will come in for the 2nd half. Alvarez has been better than average in the first half with some good interventions.

Ajax 5 great goals defeated Ajax 4 Gifted Goals in an awful display of football. I just don't get the lineup with all the tired players. Blind made several errors but passed well. Rensch and Scherpen are not ready for this level yet. Alvarez was more than decent and I would have subbed off Klaassen who was really laboring out there. Labyad is perfect for this kind of game and Tadic came through with the game winner. On to the next round by a hair.

What a weird game of football, no idea how Ajax got out of that one. Think it was five goals from four shots on target. They looked like a bunch of players who’d never played together before.

I also thought Álvarez had a good game - maybe MOTM for me. Most disappointing was Antony who got basically nothing right except the pass to Ekkelenkamp in the lead up to the 4–4.
