26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
It's a Saturday game day this week so don't miss it. Ajax have started off the season 2-0 for the first time in a while. Tagliafico returns to the lineup after his Red card suspension. We don't know whether Dest will be with the club or not. Let us hope for a third straight win.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

meant to get premiersports sub this week but will have to get one now as I cannot get a stream.Must be years since I could not get one.
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Wondering who thinks VAR *is* a good idea at this point? It also makes the refs look stupid so I don’t get who it’s helping
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Here we go again having to play a man down. Alvarez was in an unfortunate situation. I don't think it was a deliberate stomp but the Dutch VAR always call this to the CR attention for a possible Red Card. As I recall the exact same thing happened in Ajax's favor last season (can't remember the match).

Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Gooooaaalll!! 2-1!!
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Phew. Another good performance with 10 on the field. Made two good chances in the second half before Antony finally put the third away.
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Second of the first three matches that Ajax have had to play with 10 men. Alvarez got a Red Card for a stomp with VAR asking van Boekel to take a look. This is always a Red in the Dutch league and Ajax benefited last season in the same way. Schuurs had to come off in the first half, he was moving his shoulder funny and let us hope it is not serious. Jurrien Timber was stalwart in defense. Antony with a great goal on a pass from Kudus for the game winner. Defending was top notch today.
Player Ratings:
Onana (7.5) had one really tough save to make and came out twice to cut down angles
Tagliafico (7) - did enough at both ends of the pitch
Blind (7.5) - two poor passes early in the game but so tough defending in the 2nd half
Schuurs (5.5) - don't know what the complaint is as he had to come off midway in the first half
Mazraoui (8) - convincing display with some great interventions to stop attacks and had he not been hurt last year nobody would know who Serginho Dest is
Alvarez (4) - sent off for a stomp
Kudus (8) - so good with the ball at his feet and knew exactly where Antony was on the game winner
Promes (7.5) - well taken goal to open the Ajax account and almost had a second later in the match
Tadic (7.5) - did what needed to be done
Labyad (6) - no impact on the match and came off at the half
Antony (8) - great match all around; looks like Ajax have a top flight player here
Jurrien Timber (8) - other than de Ligt, I've not seen a 19 year old defender play so calmly; great defending
Ekkelenkamp (7) - solid second half and he had some good dekes to get around Vitesse players; his hard cross/shot just hit the post otherwise he might have had the game winner
Dest (5.5) - had one good run with the ball as he came on late for Mazraoui
Traore (4.5) - committed a really stupid foul right at the end of added time that might have cost the match
On the road to Groningen next Sunday and I think Arjen Robben is out injured which is a shame as I would like to see him play.

Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Alvarez, whom I actually like (as a defender), made a mistake which proved to be a blessing in disguise. Leaving the midfield was actually the best thing that could happen. He helped us. I guess Martinez should get his place instantly
May the Force be with you
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Oh! And after that kind of celebration from Bazoer, I will be VERY surprised if we ever see him return. What a cunt
May the Force be with you
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
I remember him doing that to us at least once before and losing that game as well. So much talent, but all going to waste. Thinks he’s a bigger player than he actually is

He now also wanted to fight with Tadic after the game.
He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Sadly I could get no stream at all .Will now have to take out premiersports sub .Last night was very frustrating not being able to watch.
At least Alvarez getting the red was not our key player but we got a win. With 5 mins of injury time a bit surprised to see Traore come on.Most teams in that position would stick on a defender but this is Ajax,we do things differently !

Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Ten Hag always surprises. Ekkelenkamp who has hardly seen any minutes at all comes on for a full half and plays very well.

Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Just watched the highlights ,2 wonderfully created and taken goals. As for Alvarez he clear treads on the guys ankle and could easily have broken it .Sorry but he should get more than 1 match ban for that.
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
Here is hoping for a 3 match ban. We want a flowing rhythm at Ajax, Martinez for DM. Taylor as his back up!
Re: 26 SEP 2020; Ajax - Vitesse; Match Day 3
what was up with bazoer and his taunting the fans after scoring the goal? what sort of grudge does he hold against ajax? i really don't get it. guy gets sold to wolfsburg and can't make it there so he gets relegated playing for mid-table dutch sides but how was he offended while at ajax. if someone would enlighten me, i'd appreciate that. i did enjoy tadic going after him when the game ended
