With the storm canceling matches this past Sunday, I wasn't paying a lot of attention and almost missed that Ajax have a Cup game set for tomorrow against Vitesse!!! Of all the injured players, I only see that Blind has been cleared for this match.

Schuurs is injured so Alvarez plays Cd with Martinez.Blind and Ziyech are subs.

This is getting to be ridiculous!!!

Ajax 1-0 up by a counterattack executed to perfection.

1-0 at the half with a really nice set of passes and Babel slotting home the goal. Bas Nijhuis continues to remind me what a terrible match official he is. Inconsistent with all the calls. Let's hope for a quick goal in the 2nd half and smooth sailing home to Amsterdam.

Yeah. One or two more goals and then Blind can make some minutes again.

Not much to add ,nice play between Donny and Traore to set up the goal.

Nice cross by Nico and Ryan the 2nd. Daley comes on ,good to see him again

Two late goals were the icing on the cake as Ajax had a relatively easy go of things against Vitesse to move on in the Beker. Babel got the game winner in the first half and Ajax pressed well against a team that could not generate much of any offense.

Player Ratings:

Onana (7) - didn't have any difficult saves to make but positioned himself well on all the free kicks
Tagliafico (7) - decent enough going forward and defending
Martinez (7) - solid game in the back and moved to the MF when Blind made a return to the pitch after a long lay off
Alvarez (7) - solid in the back and pushed forward when the opportunity was there
Dest (7) - good game by the rumored Bayern transfer
Eiting (6.5) - some mediocre passing in the first half with a much better second
Gravenberch (6.5) - took his shot on goal very well but his general field play was just a bit above average
van de Beek (6.5) - got things started on the match winning goal
Tadic (6.5) - a steady shift
Traore (6.5) - worked hard and had a half chance on goal but gave a great lay off to Babel
Babel (7) - solid game with some good touches
Blind (NR) - good to see him back playing
Ziyech (NR) - back from injury with a short spell on the pitch
Hunelaar (NR) - should have scored but the ball came off the post.

RKC Waalwijk at home this Sunday

A very comfortable win especially once Gravenberch made it 2-0.KJH hitting the post and not sticking in a simple 4th made me wonder whether his time is up.

Alvarez ok at Cd but shame Schuurs not available.Alvarez doesn't like a great signing to me.Dest is decent attacking but 26m ,we have to take that money.
