Into the home stretch we go with Ajax 7 points adrift of PSV but with a health 10 goal differential should it come to that. Ajax will need some help to close the gap but don't look to this week's PSV match where they are home to NAC. de Ligt and van de Beek are back from some great play while with the NT while Kluivert came on late vs Portugal. I haven't seen any update on the long term injuries of Dolberg, Viergever, and F de Jong.

Well let's assume Ajax win all their remaining games, PSV draw against AZ and Den Hag, and if they lose to Ajax, they would be level on points, but Ajax with a superior goal difference. Wouldn't that be something!

We will know next Saturday when PSV go to Aalkmar to play AZ.

Realistically speaking, we can forget about the title -- what I'm worried about is whether or not we can hold on to second place. From that point of view, it might be better for us if PSV actually beat AZ who are hot on our heels -- being only 2 points behind us going into tonight's game.

One change Veltman at CD and Wober on the bench. Including the bench we have 9 homegrown players and 7 are 20 and under.

Does this mean that Veltman resumes captaincy? Or is de Ligt still the captain? I would stick with de Ligt, it may hit Veltman's morale though, feeling unappreciated after all the years he stuck with Ajax

What awful play. Both Neres and Kluivert were too selfish. Neres had a 2-1 break with Huntelaar running free and Kluivert had a 3-2 break. Neither one passed and then on the second break Groningen get the ball back and score on a nice counter where de Ligt was too far away from the striker.

Serves them right -- first Neres ans then Kluivert loused up dangerous counterattacks that could have resulted in Ajax goals by tryng to dribble through the defenders instead of making a through pass to the open man.

this has to be in the running for one of the worst halves of football Ajax have played in recent years. Other than Onana, every player is just plain BAD. It is painful to watch Schöne who seems to be getting slower with every match. The club had three chances to break in on goal with a man advantage and squandered each one. Passing is so slow and the back passes make me wonder if Frank de Boer is still on the touchline managing this team. The awfulness is only exceeded by Kevin Blom, the match official, who is having a howler of a match, calling a penalty when it was ball to arm and not calling at least three obstructions of Ajax players.

I will only watch the second half because I am a supporter and not because I am watching what is "called" football.

Half time and extremely lucky not to be down by 3 or 4. Year by year you start out thinking 'this year's going to be different' -- but year by year it's always the same. Slow, plodding, unimaginative attacking coupled with constantly coming out second best when it comes to 50/50 scrambles.

Lucky to get to the break just one down...no cohesion, no passion, no WANT !!! Either Ajax start to play properly, ALL 11 players, or whimper down to 3rd place and just Europa League.....is that what they want??

A dreadful performance by Ajax ,apart from Onana. If not for him it would be 3-0. Never a penalty and the ref has let a few Groningen fouls go.

The attack has had no service and again our midfield is woeful. Is Ziyech playing and Schone is way too slow and getting caught.

Defence ,oh dear,de Ligt should have prevented their goal, no way is he ready for Barca yet. Kristensen poor and not as good as Zeefuik (Orejuela already wriitten off as rubbish)
