Trying to get past the bitter loss in the Beker last night, Ajax will host Willem II to close out 2017. It marks the start of the 2nd half of the season and Ajax will then take a nice break before hosting arch-rival Feyenoord in late January. A key concern on Sunday is that de Ligt, the only reliable defender on the club (and we always have to remember he is just 18 years old), doesn't pick up a foolish Yellow card which would mean a suspension for the next match. The match day roster will likely be unchanged.

Michael Reiziger will be managing the club on Sunday assisted by Winston Bogarde following the sacking of Keizer and Spijlkerman.

Interesting to see all stuff that can happen in the stadium after the coach just got fired.

Hi Cruijff .I did give serious thought to Christmas in my favourite city with this game in mind . We did come over last December and it was freezing cold but sunny no wind.It was magically and there is simply nowhere else like Amsterdam

I intend to come over for a game before the end of the season in the spring when the weather will be warmer.My wife wants to go back to Edam,simply stunning and quieter than next door Volendam. Last December she wanted to hop on the bus to got there but I pointed out it was dark at 5pm and although cold in Amsterdam it would blooming freezing up in Waterland.

Will watch the game and wish I was there.

Zeefuik is ill, apparently, according to Ajax.nl . I am frustrated that Sierhuis isn't getting a chance, either Dolberg or Cassierra should go. He needs to get into the first team

While I do like our home grown talent, it's not clear to me that Sierhuis has sufficient quickness to play at first team level. He really needs to prove himself with Jong Ajax but right now he is just not as good as the other two players immediately above him.

He came on as a sub and scored 2 goals in the last 15 minutes. How much quicker can one get?

Volendam are near the bottom of the Jupiler League and the level of this league is not great .Jong Ajax are not as good as they were last season but are 1 point from the top.It is a poor league.

Cassierra needs renting out and Sierhuis should get more starts at Jong level.

Dolberg should come on but not Siem. Dolberg has been out of sorts all season but over hyped by the press.

Back to normal watching on sky today and we and F word are the only games on.Hope we put on a good performance to finish what has ended up as a very sad year.

I think because of all the injuries. Zeefuik would probably be the choice but he is ill.

Dankerlui about the oldest and most experienced Jong defender but not good enough for our first team

Apart from winning we must hope de Ligt does not get a yellow card as he would then miss Fword game next month.

Oh no! Huntelaar is injured and subbed for Dolberg, at a time when we need goals badly. Bad timing!

Poor 1st half by us we look asleep . Only real chance Donny early on should have scored with just the goalie in front of him.

Zero from the wingers Ziyech a bit wayward . Frenkie should be played further up the field in his proper midfield position.

Doesn't look like the change in managers has made much of an impact on the team. Very poor play in the first half. van de Beek with a golden chance inside of the first 10 minutes shoots wildly over the cross bar. Lots of bad passing and turnovers. Kluivert is quite poor. Looks like Huntelaar has an injured calf muscle. Dijks is probably the best player on the pitch right now (never thought I would say that) and Neres is also above average but that's about it.

Playing like the field is covered in molasses. Didn't take them long to figure Neres out and totally negate him. Kluivert having problems with ball control. Onana won't be happy until his refusal to just put the ball up the field results in giving up a goal. Missed passes and flubbed passes outnumber completed passes by an order of magnitude. Better hope they wake up for the second half.

Only other sub we can really use is Siem ,he will probably come on and get the winner.We will take that.

Great counter attack from Willem II; they want to win the game, Ajax don't.

Beauty by Kluivert . He is making that his signature move. That was not the first goal like that.
