Last chance saloon for Ajax to get a place in the EL group stage as they travel to Norway for the 2nd leg of the tie. Having thoroughly outplayed Rosenborg last week in the Arena, they still came up goalless and conceded a junk away goal. Ajax need to come out of the box pressing and try to get the first goal that will amp up the pressure. IMO, they are a better club but of course this is football and anything can happen. It will be interesting to see who Keizer sends out in starting 11.

Of course this also is taking place on my birthday and I am expecting a special present from my favorite club!!

This could be the death year for Dutch in Europe .We go out along with PSV and Utrecht leaves just Vitesse and Feyenoord.And Feyenoord have a very tough group and must be favourites for 4th place. A couple of years time Holland will just have 1 team in the CL and they will have to qualifier.

Back to tonight I dont see us winning by 2 clear goals and we will go out.Only 2 positives to that, we should be favourites for the title and maybe Siem de Jong wont be signed.

And only 1 defender worthy of the name ie de Ligt and he struggles with those other 3 clowns at the back .

Good job the €28m from Sanchez will fill the financial gap...but with this team, at the moment, it's not really a substitute!!
Why change a winning team from Sunday??

I guess Ajax did not get the message that it is my birthday today and that they needed to deliver a wonderful present. van de Beek's lazy pass gifted the goal. It was a nice cross as Dijks was caught too far up field to come back and contest. Veltman drifted way too far inside and left Bendtner (a player who I absolutely loathe) free at the far post for an easy header. He could have had a second goal minutes letter when Viergever did not properly defend.

the pressing was very good and generated a lot of turnovers but Ziyech was the only one who had a hard shot on goal. I still think Keizer has the right approach to the game and maybe we just won't see any European football from this team.

Ajax needs two goals in the 2nd half, but didn't look like scoring one goal in the 1st....

It doesn't matter because of the reorganization of the CL which gives four automatic places to the big five leagues in Europe. Dutch will contest for a single place in any event.

EDIT: Utrecht lost in extra time to Zenit so they are now out of Europe.

the backline is absolutely terrible. a training session execution leading to rosenborg goal. veltman utterly useless.

Veltman and Dijks are rubbish,we still need a left back but wont buy one with over 150m in the bank.We have one decent defender and have only bought 2 inexperienced kids from abroad.
