Well we had played well after Ht got 2 goals back and with a 4-2-4 system we looked the better side and I thought a 3rd would come .Then the coach sticks on an extra defender and after that it was a shambles.

Tactics by our coach and a woeful defence means we are out of Europe and the season is in shambles. Even our start to the league in Almelo was rubbish . Early days but if we continue to struggle I dont see Keizer lasting the season.

We must now stop any thought of Siem coming back and if Monaco want to pay 50m for Dolberg we should just take it .
This squad is not good enough for Europa Football and is not as good as Feyenoord squad or even PSV .

Out of Europe with a big THUD! This was a night when Ajax needed to put goals in the net and the chances were all there (Viergever had two in the box, Huntelaar had a breakaway, Ziyech had two shots well saved). Ajax conced two cheap goals (is this going to be the story of the season?) and a third on a nice individual effort by Samuel who preyed on some pretty weak defending to slalom past three players and drill a shot that Onana was never going to save. Double disappointing to have this happen on my 70th birthday.

As one who always looks on the bright side, at least this team showed that they can get the ball into the attacking third against teams that bunker down. I was again dumbfounded by Keizer's substitution of Huntelaar and moving Dolberg outside but it did seem to work this match. This defense will be good enough for all the Dutch league teams other than PSV and Feyenoord but that's not saying much.

Player Ratings:

Onana (6.5) - a nice punch on a cross to put the ball out of danger but had no chance on any of the three goals
Dijks (4.5) - often caught too far up field but then his MFs should not give the ball away
Viergever (4.5) - two semi=chances to score and some mediocre defending
de Ligt (4.5) - I had a bad stream but I think he was at fault on the second goal for losing his marker
Veltman (4.5) - offers little offense and cannot defend; why does he get called up for the NT; why isn't Tete with this team
van de Beek (4) - his weak pass was easily intercepted and turned into the first goal
Schöne (6.5) - played as an AM tonight and had a nice goal to put Ajax ahead in the tie
Ziyech (7) - had a couple of strong shots and worked really hard particularly tracking back when they were in a 4-2-4
Younes (7.5) - best player on the pitch constantly causing danger on offense and getting turnovers on the press
Dolberg (5.5) - worked hard
Kluivert (6) - hamstring forced him off the pitch but when he was out there he was tough to defend
Cerny (5.5) - most of the attacking came from the opposite side so he didn't have many opportunities on the ball
Huntelaar (6) - shame he couldn't control the ball better on the break in on goal
Zeefuik (NR) - didn't see much to figure out whether he is good, bad, or indifferent

Away to VVV this coming Sunday. Maybe we see Ziyech and Dolberg leave in the next couple of days. I have not lost faith in Keizer; he's got the system that is foundational to way Ajax should play; the players have to execute.

Total BS to both of you. We have not had a team that could tactically break teams that bunker down for a lot of years and now we have one. This club presses all over the field and can move the ball in the MF quite decently. Did you ever see this happen with any of the de Boer teams or last year with Bosz? You can go off and bitch all you want, I'm just sick and tired of it all. Maybe it's just time to silently drift off this board.

The TH are destroying this club and all the blame cannot lay with Overmars ,he did not want Keizer and I have to say I think we should get an experienced coach in.

Zeefuik coming on was a joke imo ,the club have already decided to buy another Right back so why was he on the pitch. de Jong should have come on at that stage as our midfield was non existant.

6 weeks ago today Appie was declared brain dead and I thought it didn't matter what happened this season. Well in 6 weeks the club has fallen into a complete shambles and I will still watch and follow them but this season is already a non event.

I cannot see Ziyech or Dolberg staying if offers come in and who would want to come and join this current shambles.

We have to win this title this season for 1 reason ,the memory of a beautiful little superbly gifted kid who loved Ajax and only ever wanted to play for them,whose idea of football was out of the Cruijff Ajax way.

On this I agree. Most companies award bonuses to senior management if the financials come in strong. Certainly this is the case with Ajax from last season (Milik money and the EL run). Now they got some big money again from transfers. Perhaps this is the only thing they are interested in. I'm not sure if Ajax have to publish the salaries of the senior executives as I'm not that familiar with Dutch securities filings. Certainly in the US, publicly held companies have to do this.
