Short turnaround after the narrow escape vs Celta. Ajax visit AZ on Sunday AZ lie fifth in the table and have only taken two points in their EL group. Losing Janssen to Spurs had to effect the squad as he was a very fine striker last season. Ajax need a win before having a weekend off because of WC qualifiers coming up.

Gudelj has been thrown out of the A-selection by Bosz until further notice, because he told Bosz he can't mentally bring it up to sit on the bench

Team of 20 for tomorrow. No injuries Viergever is fit . From the Jong we have v d Beek and Nouri. Cerny got injured last night otherwise I think he would have been in the squad.

There is better news ,dont all cheer ,but Gudelj is dropped. He has said he cannot mentally face being a sub so we have dropped him. Wonderful news , just hope this non football leaves in January and takes his kid brother ,who rarely plays at Jong,he is not good enough.

So fingers crossed Nouri will come on as a sub and set up the winning goal .

Just reading the Dutch lads comments ,broadly all agreeing with me on Gudelj. Gudelj and Bazoer cannot face being subs so have to go.

Yep, and I guess there is nothing strange about being unhappy being a sub when you are a young talent who is used to play. But it's about the way you deal with it. Stay calm, keep putting in the effort. That's all you can do. El G and Gudelj (doesn't even fit in the category 'young talent') have shown they are not up to it. Bazoer I certainly won't give up yet. Ok, he might leave, but I would try to prevent that if it was under my responsibility.

Not everyone who is dropped reacts like Schone. He was not happy to be a sub but no complaints just kept working and is now back in the starting line up.A limited player but I like the guy a 100% team man .Loved the way v Willem in the cup he gave the ball to Nouri to take the free kick, giving the kid real confidence within a few minutes of him coming on .

Great news about Gudelj!! Hopefully we can sell him in the winter break. I also agree with trying to keep Bazoer if he wishes to stay and fight for a spot.

Great News, for some reason light bulbs dominate matches but are terrible shooting on target.

Viergever back for Riedewald the only change from last Thursday

It would be nice to see youngsters getting minutes on the pitch. Obviously that includes Nouri, van de Beek and Cerny, but also Dekker, de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and even Lieuwenburgh. We need to clean house in January, as players like Younes, El Ghazi, Gudelj, Bazoer, Sinkgraven, Dijks, Tete, Westermann and Boer are taking up the space.

I'm not sure that Leeuwenburg is the preferred youth keeper to advance. Ablas is better but just got injured and I don't know how Groothuizen is doing out on loan.

The Veltman LB Experience needs to end right now. This team cannot tolerate bad play at that position much longer.

EDIT: As SPL corrected me rightly so, he is impersonating a RB.

Veltman's a RB not LB .Actually he is not a full back of any sort

We have been very poor ,no one gets any pluses from me.We need 2 proper full backs Haps looks a good left back and maybe we can kick out Veltman and stick in Tete before he walks out in January.Midfield weak and zero attack.
Onana having his worst game is not helping the defence.

another awful half of football. Poor defending and other than Sinkgraven and Ziyech nobody seems to have a clue on offense. As I've already said, Veltman cannot play RB. He's just not a good enough defender. Onana had a couple of good saves but really has to be more careful with his ball handling and short kicks as he's conceding dangerous plays. Does anyone else notice that nobody on the team wants to pass to Klaassen (obviously with good reason)? Does Bosz notice this? Poor Dolberg, he's not getting the ball anywhere close to the goal. Finally Makalie showed some yellow cards to AZ players. They have been pushing and chopping Ajax players all half long. Let's hope for a better 2nd half.

Have to say that was pretty nice. Younes with the interception and the through pass to Traore who was clinical with the finish
