As we get ready for an epic snow storm here in the Washington DC area this weekend as we might receive as much as 40cm of the white stuff, Ajax will take on Vitesse in Amesterdam. Klaassen and Sinkgraven both look to be out of this match. No word yet about the severity of Sinkgraven's knee injury. Will FdB call up Nouri as midfield insurance?

Same 18 as per ADO.Klaassen not yet fit .v Rhijn ,Heits and Sanogo not picked .Sanogo seems to be fit,ie not injured and training in full but not match fit.Heits seems in the same boat .We have got 2 unfit useless players and I dont see them playing first team football this season .

I can see no new striker coming in and Sanogo being used by Jong Ajax during February and then still not first team match fit.Heits will not play at any level and will only be a sub if either Veltman or v d Hoorn are out .

Poor old v Rhijn is just out in the cold and as a RB we dont need him to play in Jong Ajax as we have 2 decent RB's in that squad.

I hope to be able to watch the match tomorrow, weather permitting. They continue to revise the snow fall amounts upward and it looks right now that we are to get about 60 cm which is a lot. The winds are going to pick up as well so there is always the possibility of downed power lines and no electricity. If for some reason I'm not online or able to do player ratings you know the reason!!

One of the nice things about crappy weather: you don't have to feel bad sitting inside watching the game!

Apparently el Ghazi is starting at RW and van de Beek in the midfield, no Fischer (& SInkgraven) on the bench.

We have had chances for the 2nd goal, but need another goal quickly.

Brown should have been carded for rolling over on Tete's ankle. Mediocre play for the last 20 minutes of the half and really didn't possess the ball very well. I agree with SPL, a 2nd goal is needed for this one. Too bad Veltman couldn't control the ball when he was open on goal.

Milik is such a dweeb

What utter relief,a poor game but we did not look like letting in a goal.We created chances to finish it but held on for the 2nd week.

It appears that FdB has been watching too many 1980s Serie A matches and has come to the conclusion that catenaccio is the way to play. He's really wrong if this is the case. A single spark of offensive magic in the first minute of the match is not a dependable way to win matches and Ajax were not able to find a game clinching second goal despite having 2-3 good chances. First time in a long while that Ajax had such poor possession of the ball. They conceded the midfield to Vitesse and packed things in tight such that Cillessen only had a couple of saves to make and they were fairly routine. van der Hoorn did well coming on after Tete could not continue and every ball that needed to be cleared was cleared. Still, this is a disturbing turn of events if this is how we will be seeing matches out going forward.

Player Ratings:

Cillessen (6) - one good save but some kicking that was reminiscent of Vermeer on his worst days.
Dijks (5.5) - good first 20 minutes followed by 70 mediocre ones
Riedewald (6) - a silly Yellow card because he was out of position but otherwise good
Veltman (6.5) - couldn't control the ball when he was in on goal but good defensively
Tete (6) - having a decent match until he couldn't continue
Gudelj (5.5) - would have been higher except for some poor turnovers in midfield
van de Beek (5.5) - showed a lot of inexperience today
Bazoer (5) - great shot to win the match but that was all he did
Younes (6) - most dangerous of the front line on the few chances he had the ball
Milik (4.5) - truthfully he was hobbled by never getting the ball in decent positions but did have a good touch and pass on the goal
el Ghazi (5) - still no signs of the second coming of CR7
van der Hoorn (7) - not a wrong play all match long
Sinkgraven (5) - average play
Serero (5) - drew a foul in the late stages of the match to help keep posession

Quick turn around for a mid-week match against Heracles and then a trip to Roda next weekend. Let's hope for something better. I like watching the snow fall more than Ajax football.

Well, we can all be thankful I'm not in charge of Ajax, but if I was I'd be starting with el Ghazi and Fischer as a front 2...

I know the aim was to not concede, and our defense did a pretty good job, but yet again we didn't create enough. Our attack is completely toothless. We got the one goal from a keeper fumble and apart from that there were a couple of long shots from el Ghazi.

We need a speedy number 9. A faster player than Milik. He kind of hinders our counterattacks, which are our main way of threatening the opposition nowadays

But look at how many of the passes were really bad. Bazoer is being valued at €25M, give me a break. These guys are all so young it's amazing that they perform so well. I think even Suarez, were he to return to Ajax, would have trouble getting the ball from our midfield.

The other thing I've never understood is why FdB has one of the midfielders running at the keeper everytime there is a back pass. Klaassen does this all the time and today it was van de Beek. We have never caused problems for the keeper and it puts one of our midfielders way out of position.

Orange's ratings made v d Hoorn our best player and to be fair it was his best performance for Ajax.If Tete misses
Tuesday I would leave v d Hoorn at Cd and Veltman RB rather than bring vRhijn back

Watching Milik today not sure Sanogo could be worse.

Agree Bazoer 25m ,no way is he ready but I believe he knows this . Talk of us wanting 15 to 20m from MIlan for El Ghazi is also a joke.This is a very young side and will only get better .I do think we need a speedy no 9 and more creativity in MF.We need an Eriksen type ie Nouri should get a few minutes.

Main thing we are playing poorly not creating chances but still winning.Well 3 wins in a row counting de Graafschap.We wont mention Utrecht before that

Another favorite, Dijks had a very nice game as well. At least a couple great runs and just a beast. His direct opponent had a very good game which prevented Dijks from getting forward move often. He plays well with Younes on the left.
Thought el Ghazi also played well at times. Certainly dangerous and his best match in some time.
Vitesse is a good team. A good win, but the injury to Tete is a dark cloud.
