Getting close to the halfway point in the league and a narrow three point lead over Feyenoord keeps Ajax in first place. Heerenveen comes to town with new manager Foppe de Haan and have seen marked improvement over the past several weeks. The club has only conceded seven goals in fourteen matches which is their best defensive start in quite some time.

Riedewald is banned for the one game so Viergever will likely take his place.

I think that the Dutch league rule on Yellow cards is a one game ban for every two cards accumulated after the first five (correct me if I'm wrong). Viergever will play an important role the remainder of the season as Riedewald is foul prone.

I believe its now changed, banned after 5 then banned again after 10 cards.

Bazoer and el Ghazi both back in training today!!

EDIT: Both players will be in the match day squad along with van de Beek. Sanogo is out ill and Cerny dropped. Riedewald is suspended for Yellow card accumulation.

Bazoer and El Ghazi are back and v d Beek stays and will start. Cerny out. 4 missing 1st teamers ,Sinkgraven injured Riedewald suspended ,Heitinga just dropped Sanogo ill.

FDB said today ,no new striker in January ,Sanogo is making developments !! Staying fit would help,the guy has hardly ever been fit.

Only change from starting line up v Zwolle is Viergever for suspended Riedewald. v d Beek quite rightly starting again.

First league game this season sky not live ,so its cricfree tv stream for me .If its a good win and I get a crap stream sky are showing it tomorrow so I can watch it again properly .

Absolutely no pressure from Heerenveen defenders at all. Ajax have so much open space and are, passing the ball well. Nice save by Cillessen early.vv

game already over all 3 forwards finally putting the ball in the net. Will be watching the game properly tomorrow on sky as I have struggled with streams,they keeping freezing and I am finally watching in small screen as I wont unblock ads.

Very easy win as there was no pressure on anyone allowing open passing throughout the match. Veltman was quite poor making three bad mistakes, two of which resulted in goals (though Cillessen was complicit in the second one). Good to see the wingers have good play in this match. I don't think Milik deserved the penalty as he went down way after the shirt pull and maybe his miss of the PK was justice.

Player Ratings:

Cillessen (5.5) - a couple of really nice saves and a horrible decision to try to keep the ball in play off of Veltman's bad pass back
Dijks (7) - played more like a left winger than a fullback and didn't have much defending to do
Viergever (6) - some poor long passes but generally OK
Veltman (4.5) - horrible
Tete (6) - had very little to do as Heerenveen didn't have much on the ball on his side
Gudelj (6) - some stupid fouls conceded late but better than average
Klassen (7) - really nice passing and his goal was well taken
van de Beek (7) - solid match and was all over the field
Fischer (8) - excellent on the ball all game
Milik (7) - held the ball up and had some really nice passes to set others up
Younes (8) - beat his man every single time
Bazoer (6) - good to see him get some game action
van Rhijn (6) - will be in the starting lineup on Thursday against Molde
el Ghazi (5) - only had a touch or two

Last European match of the season on Thursday against Molde unless something amazing happens.

With a 5th by Klaassen we should have won this by more than 3 clear goals but Veltman was simply dreadful although Cillessen also cocked it up for their 2nd . Will watch it again on proper Tv but Veltman will still be dreadful.

Good to see Fischer coming into form with a good game and finishing .Milik was indeed lucky to get the penalty call.

NB Veltman I would have given a 3 , piss poor defending in a game where we had no pressure
