The draw was made for the third qualifying round today and Ajax got a favorable draw, playing Rapid Vienna. The date has not been established yet for the two round match but first game is in less than two weeks with the return leg a week later.

My grandad (sadly passed away a few years ago) played both for and against Rapid Vienna during his youth footballing days, both during and after the war. I've always said id like to go see them, so what better time?!

Andre Onana has been called up for Vienna, because of a slight calf muscle injury for Cillessen. Call me paranoid, but I don't believe it...

There was doubt about Fischer's fitness but he is in the match day squad. Younes is out because of a thigh bruise.

Ajax have registered Cerny, Murcic, van de Beek and Savastano from the youth group for possible CL action this year.

Excited for the season to be starting again. After 2.5 seasons of rubbish from Ajax they owe us at least a whole season of top shelf football. It was a tough call but I'm going to miss (most) of the away leg playing 5-a-side but I'll keep my fingers crossed for a big win!

I thought it was only 1.5 yrs of crap football.

Anyway I'm, as always, also very excited about the new season! Qualifying for Champions League play is huge for Ajax. De Boer himself has said this may be the most important game of the season.

I hope to be able to watch it.

Yes these are interesting matches.

I'm convinced that when last years squad would have played 4 Champions League qualifications games we would have had a much better start of the season.

I've posted this before but for us in the States ngsn.com carries all the Eredivisie matches. It is a pay site but it's less than a pint at the pub a month. Lots of other, lesser, leagues as well.

After a terrible first 25 minutes filled with backpasses, the club came to life. Two nice goals from Klassen with the assist from Sinkgrven on the first and Milik on the second. By all rights club should have had at least one more. el Ghazi was in and had a poor shot on goal and Sinkgraven couldn't put the ball on net after a nice pass from el Ghazi.

Lots of rain on the pitch and maybe that's why Fischer is not playing. Sinkgraven is on the wing and has been one of the most effective players. Tete had some rocky moments in the opening minutes but did better. Let's get another goal and keep a clean sheet and put this one to bed.
