After a disappointing draw in Cyprus it is back to the Eredivisie on Sunday against PEC who have beaten Ajax twice withing the past six months. Will FdB continue to have confidence in Sigthorrsson and Andersen? After this match team has time off before going to Enschede to play FC Twente and then a CL match against Barcelona.

As SPL notes over on the Nine O'Clock News several first team players saw other action with Jong Ajax and the A1 team so this is an interesting selection. Normal coverage at CB are van der Hoorn and Denswil who both played with the Jong team. It looks like Tete will cover for Veltman and Viergever will be cover for Mosander in case of injury or a Red card ejection.

Big match for Ajax. Really need this one, especially with PSV winning earlier.

The games could be much easier if Sightorsson was able to convert his first chance...

Souras -- the Russian sopcast streams are usually good. Also, if you can do AceStream there is a really good feed in English from Sky Sports 5.

Rather nervous start for Ajax, defense looks vulnerable.

Both teams have had some good early chances but couldn't put it in the net. Ajax defense has to shape up.

Ajax have done enough to create some chances but just couldn't finish. Some very nice play from Andersen, Serero, & van Rhijn. Zimling has not been convincing and Moisander had two really bad turnovers but otherwise was decent. This team cannot afford the kinds of turnovers that they have made thus far. Fortunate not to have conceded a goal. Schöne is getting himself caught with two defenders and he cannot beat them both, he really needs to give the ball up sooner.

So far, aside from those early defense glitches, we have played pretty decently. What worries me is that when we play these type of games (dominate most of the way, but nothing to show for it), we get sucker punched late in the game, and after doing nothing for the whole game the other team walks away with the victory. Let's hope that doesn't happen today.

Well...a very disappointing draw. Zwolle's a tough club for Ajax. First draw of the season.

I think we were actully good defensively. On the other hand we were terrible in the offence. What the hell is going on in their mind when they enter the final 3rd?

A decent match to watch but we had chances but not enough clear cut chances. Kishna cocked up by not putting the cross to an unmarked Klaassen and then at the end could have done better with his shot. Our attack seemed to fizzle out once Schone went off. I thought Andersen had played quite well until then but he just faded away.

I prefer 2 proper wingers but El Ghazi was crap and Kishna ,apart from the 2 incidents above was poor.Defence was ok but we need a really good DM. Zimlimg was poor but especially in the 2nd half ,even I have to admit Serero played well and worked hard.(Yes I am praising Serero)

They did everything in the 2nd half except score. Our two young wing players who came on didn't take the opportunities that were gifted them. Serero does much better facing up the field and the only little quibble today is that he needs to lead his passes more. Several times he forced van Rhijn to slow down for the ball. I hope FdB looks at the 2nd half as this is how the club should play. Perhaps there could have been a little more pushing forward by the full backs to create mismatches but that would be too adventuresome for our manager. Certainly disappointing that they dominated things so much but couldn't score. I think this club is going to have difficulties scoring goals just as they did last season. There doesn't seem to be any one who can create something out of nothing.

Player Ratings:

Cillessen (8) - stopped every single shot and a couple of them were tough ones
Boilesen (6) - FdB said he might only play a half and that's all he did but decent enough
Moisander (6) - again some very poor give away passes but did try to drive things forward in the 2nd half
Veltman (8) - not a single bad play all game
van Rhijn (7) - all around good match
Zimling (4) - did little of consequence and didn't seem to control things well at all in the midfield
Serero (7) - a couple of bad passes but did very well as the DM in the 2nd half
Klaassen (7) - again silent for some large stretches but did create some good opportunities
Andersen (7) - good game with some really deft touches of the ball; would have liked to see him on the ball more when he was in the midfield
Sigthorrsson (6) - still plagued by a bad first touch but worked hard to get open
Schöne (6) - disappointing match for him, wonder if he is still not 100%
Viergever (7) - some very good defending on Lukoki and did push forward to overlap on offense
Kishna (4.5) - should have done better with his shot on goal
el Ghazi (4) - pressing too hard to create? did not have a particularly good match

Off for two weeks now and then FC Twente which will be a tough match.

Should add Siggy is not the answer and either Milik or Zivkovic need to be given their chances.

I think siggy is excellent at running hard, and trying to "bully" the opponents defence, but he just cant score. he lacks a killer touch and top finish. hes a good player to have to just thump the ball up to, but when we do, do that there is never anyone there for him to lay it off to.

i feel a bit sorry for siggy in this sence, because he really is feeding off scraps, he runs himself ragged but rarely gets a decent ball in to him, then when he does he fluffs it!

we certainly need to try one of the other two, and if they cant provide, buy in january.

also, i think we would walk the league with a decent striker.
