This will be a good opportunity to experiment with the players. Frank de Boer should try Denswil at left back, if Moisander returns to the starting 11. Does anyone know how badly Klaassen is injured? I hope he starts.

I think both Denswil and Moisander are too good to sit on the bench so playing one of them as a left back could be a good idea (plus Boilesen hasn't been totally convincing). I think Denswil is probably faster so maybe he should try it. You need speed to go up and down the wing and deal with wingers. Didn't Verthongen start out as a left back before he moved to the central defence? Can't see why Denswil couldn't play there also though his best position is probably CB.

I can't remember which match it was last year (maybe Roda?? I seem to remember that we played them back to back cup/league) when FdB went to a 3-4-3. Blind played a wing back on the left side with Moisander on the left and van Rhijn on the right. Toby was hurt and Veltman played in the middle. I'm unsure about experimenting with Denswil at left back; he really needs to gain experience and improve his mental aspect to being a central defender. Shuffling back and forth between fullback and central defense will be distracting.

Didn't Verthongen start out as a left back before he moved to the central defence?

IIRC he came into the youth program as a midfielder and then moved back to fullback and then central defense. He has played as a left fullback on the Belgian NT, with Vermaelen in the center.

We have 4 CBs at the minute, I wonder if Ajax might try to loan out either vd Hoorn or Denswil so they can get some playing time, especially if we're not in Europe after Christmas.

Earlier in the week Hamburg and Wolfsburg both indicated they were interested in Moisander. Think he may leave in the summer. Denswil must stay but possibly V d Hoorn could be loaned out . If the other 3 stay fit V d Hoorn,who was a regular for Utrecht last season,will just play Jupiler league which is not a high enough standard for him to improve.

NEC is our last game for 2 weeks and when we return Duarte and Moisander will be fit and Bojan hopefully also.

Might seem silly again, but as Veltman has looked so mature in his games and HAS to stay, why not try Denswill as a deep midfield player? He is confident on the ball, has good vision and is powerful going forwards! Maybe he could create some of the runs that Enoh used to do when he was "good"!!!

Must win game.

I would just keep Veltman with Denswil in the centre for this match. Then we won't have a match for two weeks because everybody goes to their national team, that gives Moisander some extra time.

Perhaps Kolbeinn will qualify for the World Cup with Iceland!!! during the week between our NEC and Heracles Almelo game! Croatia is the only opponent to beat, nothing is impossible (except a league title for Feyenoord ofcourse.....)

Veltman just got his first call up to the NT. van Gaal said he was the best player on the pitch against Celtic!

I still think at some point in the game, Denswil should be playing at left back, and if it goes well, which im sure it will, by the time Moisander returns to the line up, we would have a stronger back four, since Boilesen isnt doing well this season so far

Same 18 as Celtic.FDB suggests only change to those who started v Celtic is Moisander for Denswil. Thought they may hold Moisander back until after the Ints. Desnwil has made a few errors recently and is still learning.He will be on U21 int duty this week but the only way he will improve is to play regularly in the 1st team .FDB will have some decisions to make for the next few games up to Christmas. Both Veltman and Denswil possibly need the experience of Moisander partnering them at present but neither should drop back to Jong Ajax.

Well I guess we will again see slug-speed Sigthorrson in the starting 11 rather than Fischer. At this point I just want to see a league victory!

Fischer should start ipo Siggy. Ok hes not in form but he still looked a different class v Celtic .Siggy is a slow old donkey and should not be our striker,de Jong should be striker with Fischer on the wing. With Bojan and Duarte nearing full fitness hope Siggy and Serero will be back to the subs bench after tomorrow

Finally a game at a decent hour -- hooray -- not much going on for 24 minutes and then the header from Siem and 0-1 to Ajax.

And no sooner do I catch my breath and Boilesen makes it 0-2 -- with an assist from Sigi.

we are in control 2 decent goals but how did Siggy miss putting the ball into an empty net .

Three nice goals in the first half; oooops you mean Sigthorrson missed an open goal?? Well it should have been three. Nice pass from Boilesen to give de Jong an easy header and good to see him get a nice tap in as Sigthorrson saved the ball from going out and crossed it right across the goal mouth. Decent enough play from everyone against a poor opponent. Denswil had a bad giveaway at the half line but NEC could not capitalize. Blind's entry passes have been quite poor, too slow and never reaching his teammate. This should be an easy victory if they don't lose their heads.

Unbelievable miss -- the announcer couldn't believe it either. As Sigi started to take the shot he said 3 nil to Ajax, and in the next breath had to correct himself: "Nay". Goalie on the ground behind him; defender rushing back to the line; all he had to do was move the ball over to his left foot and give it a tap. Why he rushed the shot with the wrong foot is anybody's guess.

Fischer on for Sigthorssen -- a good move as now that NEC are pressing up the pitch we need to bring on a player who can counter attack.

Why do we misuse De Jong in mid field? He should always start as striker or not play. But never in mid field.

A comfortable win in the end -- although they had us on the back foot for the first 25 minutes of the second half -- but everything changed for the good when we brought on Fischer as we started playing attacking football and dominated the game the rest of the way.

de Jong should stay as a striker,he has always been decent and effective in the past and was again today. Siggy worked hard but with Bojan soon fit and Fischer he surely will be on the bench next time. Still don' t rate Serero.

Anyway a good win and should have said lovely football for our 3rd.

Duarte will most likely replace Serero when he returns to fitness. He is in full training now, so he should be back after the interland period.
