Mind you: this is not the 27 January league fixture (which has its own thread), but the Thursday 31 January game in the quarter finals of the KNVB Cup.

The game can not be played at Arnhem's Gelredome, because there's a major dance event at the stadium a couple of days later. The folks who organize the dance party need two days to prepare the stadium for the event - and they won a lawsuit about this issue, which forced Vitesse to find an alternative venue.

The match will now be played at Univé Stadium in Emmen (capacity: 8,600).

Ajax know how to get there... In 2008 FC Twente vs Ajax was played there (post-season Eredivisie play-offs), because Twente's home ground in Enschede was under construction at the time. This game does not bring back sweet memories: Ajax lost, 2-1, and failed to qualify for the preliminary rounds of the Champions League.

Kick-off time in Emmen, this time around: 20.45 CET.

Wed 30 Jan (18.45): PEC Zwolle vs Heracles Almelo
Wed 30 Jan (20.45): PSV vs Feyenoord

Will this game last 90 mn, or 70 mn ? Just wondering.

Perhaps 120 minutes, if it´s still a draw after 90 minutes.

Don't get to see many midweek games these days. I'm hoping we pound them after what we gave up last weekend.

I wish we had him all season at striker, I think things would have looked different if we had him since October(?) or whenever he went out. 2 goals in 15 minutes, he has a nose for goal. IMO we've been playing 3rd or 4th choice at that position all season (I'd take Babel at #2 over Siem or anyone else), hope Kolbeinn stays healthy, nice 2 goals here.

Looks like it's just gone final. Ajax on to the halve finale . Just hope Ruud Gullit isn't handling the draw.

Also going to throw this out, time to get rid of Vermeer. Not that he isn't bad apart from his kicking/distribution and his reactions have been great, but it's time to get the $$$ for him and I think it's time for Cilessen to step up and give it a go, he's done well in most of his recent appearances.

Pity this was not last Sunday, nice to be in a semi but 3 points far more important.Great return for Siggy .With Hoesen and Siggy we actually played with strikers and scored goals.
The regular back 4 also were very comfortable tonight .Toby back in the centre and Ricardo at RB .

Good win, as it should be because we're the better team. I'd rather have the six points in the league though.

Agree. Do think Vermeer is the better goalie atmo but the dif is not big and given playing time may disappear all together.

Personally I think Vermeer is one of the best shot blockers of anyone around except perhaps Casillas (and even he is having a bad season this year and is now out injured). Unfortunately, keepers don't command much money on the transfer market and given Vermeer's lack of height and poor dealing with corners I'm not sure as to what he would bring in. It does seem time to move him if possible as van der Hart would be a capable #2 behind Cilessen. Maybe we get €6M???
