Football people just love to yell premature shit, like "season's over". Most of the time that's bollocks. If a team can take a 10-point lead in a month and a half, other teams can close the gap in a month and a half. Plain simple. If Ajax beat PSV, we're only three points behind them. On December 1st. It ain't over 'til it's over.

Having said that: I'm not optimistic for this game.

Our home record against PSV has been pretty disastrous for many years. That's no longer the case (it really improved in the last five years or so), but I fear their midfield is stronger than ours this season: more dynamic, more aggressive. Also, they score goals really easily (not against Vitesse last weekend, but normally they do) and they have many options upfront. More than we have at this point, with Sigthórsson and Babel injured.

Normally we lose, is my gut feeling. But you never know.

Oh - and if we lose, the season is not over.

Indeed. I'm not optimistic that we'll win, but even if we don't we've come from behind to win the eredivisie before, and we can certainly do it again.

No, the title won't be decided after this game, but it's still going to be a huge game, a real "six pointer." The fact that are we 3 points away or 9 points away from the strongest team so far is significant. PSV really have been in great form: 14 games 33 points and 49 goals scored (we are second in scoring with 33 goals).

Now that we have them in the Arena I really hope that we can beat them cause I can't see them dropping much points and we have been strugling a bit (even with bottom clubs). I think our game is improving and we'll hopefully get some injured guys back soon, so we might play great football in spring time (again), but it's kind of nerve racking to put your hope in a comeback in the latter part of the season.

Pretty typical: work hard, plenty of chances, deserved lead, then concede.

Disappointing to be even at the half given how badly outplayed PSV were. van Rhijn has to realize that he cannot turn his head when he's defending the most dangerous opponent. That happens and Lens is right past him; van Rhijn recovered but the damage was done and Lens had a nice finish leaving Vermeer all alone at the near post. Probably was lucky not to get called for a penalty on Mertens just a minute or so later.

FdB is going with a 3 man back line with Toby in the middle and Moisander on the left moving Blind up to the midfield. It's creating a lot of space for outlet passes and we've done a great job of moving the ball into the attacking end and getting some good chances on goal. PSV are very weak on the back line and if Willems cannot go anymore and Bouma comes in they are even weaker.

I missed the call on van Bommel who hasn't even been close to any Ajax player all half long. We need to come out strong in the second half and get a couple of goals.

We badly lack some maturity in the attacking line. Can't really blame kids for having no expierience.

From a team point that was a very good football display completely dominating but then conceding typical stupid goal.

We need to apply pressure on PSV keeper, he's clearly nervous and can make some mistakes, corners can help.

Very good perfomance, but as you said typical conceding.
Running round their two killer DM is very clever. Their defence is worse than ours and thats why they are out of the Europa.
Unfortunately, Fisher is a bit hot headed and loses the ball easily. He got better near the end of the half. Hoesen is good but not that good to threaten them. Imagine Kobi!! Finally, Dirk is completely fragile and its sad that he cant keep the ball even if his life is hanging on to it. I believe they will continue waiting for us on the counter. The thing is simple. Score more than them

Yes, having had my whine I agree that it was a good half for us. If we can keep it up we should be able to get three points, but PSV are always dangerous on the counter.

Justified win. I like the way we took control of the game. The margin could have been even more if we could have been more efficient. Great set up by Fischer for the winner.

The crucial moment was Vermeer being cool on that one on one chance against Lens.

Great to see kids creating some goals. We may finally have a winger who can do something on. PSV was too negative generally and they badly miss some creative players in midfield.
