KNVB Cup, third round.

ONS Sneek (the name of their sponsor, Boso, is officially in the club's name) are in the Hoofdklasse (level four of Dutch football). Kick-off time at the Zuidersportpark in Sneek (province of Friesland, some 20 kilometres east of Heerenveen) is 20:45 CET.

7,500 tickets sold. That's pretty huge for ONS.

Five basis players will be rested : Niklas Moisander, Ricardo van Rhijn, Christian Poulsen, Kenneth Vermeer and Siem de Jong.

7 forwards and only 3 midfielders if Eriksen is counted as MF a bit top heavy . Thought Sporkslede and de Sa ought to have been in the squad but should be an easy win.

Without de Jong, I assume Alderwiereld will be captain as he looks to be the most senior player in the selection.

Game will be shown on Eredivisie Live (pay-TV) here in Holland. So if there's a place where you guys can normally watch Eredivisie Live streams: that's your place to be.

Well, most enjoyable moment so far was Eriksen freaking out over Sneek's mascot. Maybe he had a traumatic experience at Disneyland as a child?

Wonder what de Boer would do if ONS scored first? Frank de Boer, that is...

Lots of possession but only one really good chance. Hoesen perhaps should have done a little better. Players are still taking too much time on the ball rather than making quick passes. ONS are very slow and we should be able to do much better.

We'll put a few in in the second half for sure. Like you say, just need to step on the gas.

Boerrigter off for Sulejmani. Poor old Boerrigter, you have to wonder if he'll ever be the same after his injuries. His situation always reminds me of what back injuries do to young fast bowlers in cricket...

What a terrible game. My oh my. I'm hoping for an equalizer scored by Mark de Vries and overtime for these spoiled Ajax boys.

Nah, 'cos then I'd have to sit here and watch it.

A bit of skill from Fischer and that was it a very poor game . Denswil looked good in what he did and for Saturday I would leave Blind at LB and bring Denswil in at CD. Boerrigter looks like he has hurt his back again which is not good news.

Draw for the next round is tomorrow night, after the last games have finished.

I hope for a home match in the next round, Ajax still has to give us compensation for that match against AZ (with Wesley and Esteban) where we did pay the full price but only got 41 minutes of football.

In his interview after the game Frank was talking pretty mild about the team performance. He said he saw a couple of positive things, the central defenders looked good, especially Denswil. It looks like Denswil is going to replace Moisander against Vitesse on Saturday.

The team appeared to be pretty clueless until Eriksen came on to take charge. He had good ball control and some really nice passes. Fischer did well in taking his chance on goal and kept his cool to put it away. Denswill struck a free kick worth of Rainer Bonhof (remember him???). I thought Denswill and Veltman both did well in the middle of the defense even though they were not tested much. Ball control was good and they made the right passes. Legeon is really fast and you could see he wanted to go forward every time. Hoesen was not terribly impressive and I worry that Boerrigter's career with Ajax may be nearing an end. He really took a wicked knee in the back and I hope this doesn't reignite his back problems. Sulejmani looks slow against really slow competition. Don't know if Lukoki was hurt or if he was just taken off as a precaution. Enoh did OK but I don't think he's going to beat out Poulsen right now. Cillessen didn't show any reason for being the #1 keeper.

On to Vitesse Saturday.

Interesting to hear that Denswil is likely to replace Moisander he looked good to me and is highly rated .I think its time he stepped up.

Incidently their goalie looked hugh and seemed to tower over every one else and the no 11 looked even bigger!! Not sure what they feed them on up in Sneek
