There we go: the first official fixture of the new season!

Cup winners PSV play champions Ajax for the Johan Cruyff Shield (the Dutch Super Cup). Kick-off time is 18:00 CET.

The match will be played at the Amsterdam ArenA, but PSV are formally the home team for this one. Ajax to wear away colours.

Check this page on Wikipedia. It's in Dutch, but there's a list of all Dutch Super Cup matches (since 1991, after a one-off edition in 1949; the trophy had various names since 1991).

Note that Ajax's Dutch Super Cup record is below par: fourteen finals, 'only' seven wins (a 50% score, which is not great by Ajax's domestic standards). Ajax won the thing seven times (most recently in 2007), whereas PSV won it eight times.

So if I got the Dutch right, no Eriksen but with VdW on Sunday? Plus we have no intention of getting a new DC so its Toby, Blind and one youngster?

I am curious who will play left back. Dijks or Koppers? I have big expectations about how high Dijks can get, but for now it's not a surprise yet if Frank de Boer prefers Koppers.

Eriksen and Van der Wiel will not play, Ricardo van Rhijn will be right wing defender.

Fischer playing from the start on Sunday. I like that.

I think that it's worrisome that Boerrigter cannot seem to shake the back problems that began just before the winter break. Scans seem to show nothing but it now may be something more chronic. Too bad as he started off so well last season and I hope that they can resolve this (my suggestion is Yoga which has done wonders for my back but then I'm not a professional footballer). Let's hope Viktor steps it up tomorrow.

Yup, the Boerrigter case is starting to give me a bit of a 'Manucharyan feeling', which is not a good thing.

Looks like it will be a long season. Thankfully, I'm off to Yoga class right now and won't be tortured anymore by this miserable excuse for a defense.

2-0 already -- gonna be a long season -- did nothing to strengthen the team over the summer. Crying need to strengthen the defense that went unheeded -- and now we pay.

I really really like Dijks! Loved how he he got the ball back from Narsingh there after Blind passed it to a PSV player (when he was under 0 pressure).

I haven't checked the stats yet, but at least in the last 15-20 years, we never win the eredivisie when we win the JC Schaal.
