0 - 0 at the half. Ajax started well, but then degenerated into pitty pat football. They played themselves into a slow stupor, so they couldn't respond quickly enough when SH picked up the pace. Lucky not to go in at the half by a goal or more down. Not that SH is a better team -- they just aren't pitty patting the ball when they get possession -- going in directly for the kill on every opportunity.

I only caught the 2nd half and Southampton looked to have had the better play. We dodged several bullets that should have been converted. Nice play by Ozbiliz to get the only goal of the match. FdB stuck with Janssen despite the fact that he doesn't do anything at all. I really hope that Vitesse makes a move for him though if they aren't going to sign Aisatti, why would they want Janssen?

A great day out with Ian and Brian ie Saddler Ian and SE6. Apart from the goal not a great game but Fischer shows he is going to be real class and Dijks looks like he can fill in until Boilesen is fit.Blind was Ok but we need a new defender in that position.

We had one or 2 people stopping us commenting favourably on Ajax ,clearly Saints fans repect our club and that famous shirt. Had a bit of banter with some of their fans in the pub.One lad who clearly knew his Ajax history starting with Michels .This guy wanted his picture taken between Ian and myself as were wearing our famous clubs colours.

Anyway a great day with 2 real Ajax fans and it still makes me laugh when some of the Dutch guys asked me why I follow Ajax. Because this club is simply the most beautiful and special football club on the planet is my reply. I still need to see a game in Amsterdam with Ian and Brian but just being at a live game watching our team gives me a buzz that no other sport or team can give me.

Good day out yesterday and good to see an Ajax gasme though as SPL says it weasn't a great one. I got to practise the Pompey Chimes though which went down well in the pub (winding up one Saints fan in particular) but not so well in the ground where the stewards weren't such good sports.

thanks Brian for the pictures great reminder of a good day out with you and Ian.

I got home and told myself I have to get over to Amsterdam soon to watch them . Nothing beats watching this special football team and at least in home games they are dressed properly in the most famous shirt in football.
I still believe they should make it a law that Ajax only plays in their home strip but without the stripes on the shoulder.

I've said the same thing but this probably means finding a kit sponsor other than Adidas. Most all of their team tops for other clubs now have this ridiculous sleeve stripe.
