21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
Arguably the most prestigious friendly of the pre-season campaign: Ajax vs Celtic, 19:00 CET at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Game will be shown on Eredivisie Live in Holland.
Gregory van der Wiel will go back in training on Monday 16 July. Will he see action against Celtic?

3-0 at the half (Sigi and Serero for 2 and 3), and the boys are running circles around Celtic. So many kids I've barely seen before -- Dijks, Fisher, Serero, and they are still cutting Celtic to pieces. Lukoki still needs some seasoning, but my bet is that with half a season's experience he will be a real terror to the opposition. Van Rijn at RBack is having a very nice game, too.
Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
Celtic look really slow and clueless. Good first half from Ajax who look to be in midseason form. Really crisp passing in the midfield something that was missing at times last season.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!
Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
Cillesen in goal for the second half.

Blind is the primary penalty taker in this game!! Red card for Celtic defender for a hand ball on the line. 4-0 Ajax

Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
Blind took the penalty because scoring it meant his first goal for Ajax.

Yeah -- did you see the way they were all laughing when they were congratulating him on the goal.Cruijff schreef:Blind took the penalty because scoring it meant his first goal for Ajax.

Thought Fischer had a great game, first time I've seen him. Hope Sigthorson stays healthy this season, and Boerrigter too, though if Fischer can play like he did today that's not a bad backup. Midfield is pretty full, less so if Anita goes, considering Eriksen and Jansen didn't play. Defense is the big worry, of course, losing Vertonghen.

enjoyed watching the game.Fischer looks a good prospect but we need a quality experieced CD to replace Jan.
Next up Southampton and I am looking forward to watching it live.

Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
I think I watched 45 minutes in total and I must say: I loved it. This is what I want Ajax to look like: fresh, sassy, loads of young kids on the field.
Really - this is the way to go, even if it would cost us the title this season. We won the thing for two years straight now, so that chip is off of our shoulders now. If the rest of the season will feel like last night, I'll be happy man, even if we finish third ('cos if that happens we'll definitely win the title the season thereafter).

Yes it was great! This is what we (The Technical Hart) have in mind when we're talking about Ajax football.Kowalczyk schreef:I think I watched 45 minutes in total and I must say: I loved it. This is what I want Ajax to look like: fresh, sassy, loads of young kids on the field.
I just prefer to win the title again!Kowalczyk schreef:Really - this is the way to go, even if it would cost us the title this season. The future of Ajax is very bright, Frank de Boer is full of spirit to become new legends with Ajax again. The man brought us 2 titles in 1,5 years but didn't win the KNVB Beker or Johan Cruijff Schaal yet. For sure he is 'dying' to win the double or even a threble with Ajax this season!

I meant Technical Heart.

Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
I would prefer to win the title but a team full of kids ,mostly local, playing football like that is what Ajax should be all about . In the second half of last season we have nearly all kids playing except old man Janssen but of course we had Vertonghen .
Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
What surprised me was how tall Dijks is. During the pre-match lineup he looked like the biggest of all the Ajax players. I know that left backs are at a premium but wonder if he has ever played in central defense.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!
Re: 21 Jul 2012: Ajax - Celtic FC
Yes, he did. But he has also played on 'non-defenders-positions'.

Inclined to agree. Let's do the business the right way, and surely the rewards will follow.Kowalczyk schreef:I think I watched 45 minutes in total and I must say: I loved it. This is what I want Ajax to look like: fresh, sassy, loads of young kids on the field.
