The past four matchdays have been great for Ajax. Absolutely great. While our competitors for the title played many head-to-head games (with, in many cases, good results for Ajax), Ajax themselves played a string of relatively easy matches - and made no mistakes. Our destiny is back into our own hands as far as the title is concerned, but the string of 'easy games' is now over. Today is the day: Ajax vs PSV. Time to show how strong we really are.

Here's the top of the table after 26 games:

1. AZ: 26-53 (53-25)
2. Ajax: 26-52 (68-33)
3. PSV: 26-51 (68-38)
4. FC Twente: 25-48 (66-30)
5. Feyenoord: 26-48 (51-32)

Fixtures.

Firstly, Twente play the game they still have in hand on Wednesday 21 March: De Graafschap away. They'll probably win; any other result would be a bonus.

The weekend, then. For many weeks in a row it was 100% certain that at least some of our rivals were going to drop points, for the simple reason that they were up against each other. That's over now. Ajax vs PSV is the 'Big One' this weekend; looks like all other title contenders will win.

AZ vs RKC Waalwijk
De Graafschap vs Feyenoord

I still cannot believe we are in this position. I remember attending Ajax-PSV with AjaxUSA a few years ago (almost ten!). What a great match. Let's hope that the result is the same this year.

This is it, we have to win this game, for the title and for honor. Important things in order to win this: Van Rhijn has to beat Mertens on the one-and-one, you can't let Toivonen play inside the box, and put a lot of pressure on Strootman. If Strootman has hard time getting the ball for them, their done, and we can beat them. Despite the money they spent, we have the team to beat them.

How awesome would it be if PSV didn't qualify for the Champions League?

Very awesome.

That would be a huge, huge, massive financial catastrophe for them. Their very dodgy deal with the Eindhoven municipality is totally based on the idea that titles could be 'bought' that way.

Head to head results against PSV have been dramatically poor for many years, but that's no longer the case. They didn't beat us that frequently in recent years. Quite a few draws, a few wins for us; it hasn't been that poor, actually.

Was it the begining of the 00s that PSV were our nightmare? Or the mid 00s? I remember playing against them ended up in disaster. I think on the day Michels died, we suffered a big defeat?

You mean march 20 2005, we lost 0-4, ugh but michels died on the 3 of march.

They were our nightmare from the first year in the Arena (1996) until around 2004 when we won for the first time in 8 years.
Since then we have still lost a few matches by a wide margin, but we beat them by a wide margin a couple of times too. I'd say since then it's about 50/50.

That was the day. I remember it was the day we payed tribute to Rinus and it ended up 0-4

hey but i remember beating them 1-5 in eindhoven, 2007. Huntelaar ws an absolute light bulbs slayer!!!

I remember it too. I remember also that we lost the title that year by one goal. One of the most disappointing moments my Ajax memories

First week of February Ajax was all but officially eliminated at 0.6%. Miracle comeback.

We have to grind out those wins no matter what. When we have Boerrigter back, our chances will be greater.

Great news Twente losing points. Now if AZ lose today, even a draw would get us to the first place!
