Guess what? Yup, we get to play Lyon without a single striker and a bunch of young kids for subs. The only player on the first team who has seen duty as a striker was Ozbiliz in the preseason but I don't know if he's healthy enough to play so we may see the same lineup that played most of the match against NAC. I wish FdB would drop Janssen and Vermeer form the starting lineup for this match but I doubt that's going to happen. Lodeiro got a chance to shine and showed good ball control and passing. I don't think he's a threat to score unfortunately so we'll see what happens.

11 players the size of Verhoeven could probably do it. Our normal starting lineup wouldn't cover but half the goal mouth.

quite a Jong Ajax team..it will be a long night

I seem to remember a similar game a few years ago in Lyon where were also given zero chance of winning. That night the Ajax players played their heart and everything else out and we ended up winning 2 - 0.

If we're going to play our youth, let's go out and play with some panache, some style, some balls. If we lose, we lose. But at least let's play with heart.

More or less the same guys were playing on Saturday and the mentality isn't there yet

These young lads have the possibility to make history : our first CL 1/8 finals in years in spite of very unfortunate circumstances. Otherwise, crisis.

Still, I'd give Vemeer a "rest".
His confidence is shot, and I'm afraid he'll make a howler (or two) in the high pressure environment of the CL.

Give Cillessen his chance, if these are not the right circumstances circumstances, then why the hell did we buy him?

Yup - give Vermeer a rest. Copy that.

I'm very pessimistic, obviously. We have a goalkeeper problem, a shit defence (more than 1.5 goal per game conceded in the Eredivisie, on average) and no strikers.

This is a mission impossible, I'm afraid, but one can always hope for a miracle.

I hope he play's Cillessen in goal, Lodeiro in midfield with Enoh and Eriksen and Klaassen #9. Let's play with style, no fear and youthful exuberance...

I don't think it's mission impossible. Ok, if Utrecht can score 6 goals, Lyon can score 15, but this team is so inconsistent that I still have some hope (and Lyon is not that great too nowadays).
