I would play the reserves team and 'give' the cup to them. We cannot afford injuries or suspensions (do they count for the league?) and need to make sure we are as fit as can be.

I think our reserves are better than Twente's given how thin their squad is. I suspect however that the KNVB will frown on any such effort on the part of either team (and probably have the power to fine the teams).

The cup final really is a pain in the a##e this time, innit?

The worst thing would be for it to go to extra time and be decided on penalties!

For some reason I feel that winning the cup would make the chance of also winning the league smaller.

In other words: I'd rather not win the cup. But it feels unnatural to 'give' it to Twente.

It's difficult. I don't believe in two wins against Twente in eight days' time. To me it feels like we have to choose and totally focus on that one game.

Maybe Twente feel the same and might field a weakened team to concentrate on the title decider, which is a more important fixture.

Whatever happens, 2 wins against the Tukkers will be a tough ask, lets hope our young boys have the mental cojones for it.

I for one want that 3rd star on our strip for next year.

And for fucks sake if we DO win the cup lets not celebrate like Real Madrid did and please no throwing the cup under a bus !!!

playing them in the cup final before the showdown in the league is beneficial in my opinion. we can pick up cards and injuries but so can they. and it will give us a feel what it's like playing against them. any mistakes we make in the cup final, we can correct in the arena.

and remember, they are coming to our house a week later, so it will be a different game

it's not like if we beat them in the final, we'll lose the second game. it's all mental

Agree completely.

With this unique situation it would benefit all parties to postpone the cup final a couple of weeks. The cup final can then be the celebration it is intended to be. The national league has never had a true final, as it has now, and it may never happen again. But does the KNVB understand the implications? Of course not. Everything goes forward as planned. (the risk of injury -to key players- in the cup final is very real)

If any team put out a reserve team it would be youngsters but this is Ajax and if we put out our reserves and spare players they would nearly all be older than the first team.

Ok 1 or 2 are injured but none of the above started on Sunday . De Zeeuw is the only player from Sunday who could be replaced by someone younger as all 4 midfielders listed above including Lodeiro are younger.

Anyway seriously we have to play our first team ie the bunch of kids ,and win the cup and the league
and thus prove Ajax is back on top in Holland doing what Ajax is famous for youth.
