It's a Sunday match so you shouldn't have too much of a problem. The NJ Turnpike is so much fun! NOT!!!

I've never really been to DC, except that I was once stuck at Dulles Airport for about eight hours, on my way back to Amsterdam, from Chicago... This was during the 1998 World Cup and I remember watching all the games of the day (including a Holland one) at some sports bar at the airport.

DC is one of my favorite cities. Historically, so impressive. And the vibe is just... intense. The city is full of political operatives, lawyers, reporters... Good food, GREAT bars, great culture. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'll arrive Sat evening and stay 'till Tuesday night (when I fly to Portland for Ajax' 2nd friendly, v the debutantes of MLS, the Portland Timbers!).

I will potentially make the trip down from NYC. I lived in DC for a while and know some good places to haunt. Would folks be interested in perhaps a get together Saturday night or Sunday before the match?

That's super-cool! However, I'll be there with at least my son, and possibly also my niece and another friend. But I would love to rely on you for guidance on the best way to get tickets, best tailgating, etc. (We should probably take this conversation over to the "ajax friendlies" thread.)

I always took the train from DC to NY when I lived there, but it's about 4x more expensive than the bus. But the train is almost as fast as flying so for my money it's worth the extra pennies.

The bus can actually be done for $1 each way. Amol do you wanna connect "off board"?

It also drops you off right near one of the Metro stations and you take the subway to the stadium. My daughter takes the bus to NY all the time.

Are we meeting before/after the game? I'm buying tix today or tomorrow.

I don't post a whole lot over on this board but just throwing it out there I'll be there :)

I will be there, but as guest of some locals so I won't control my own destiny with regard to where I'll be before and after the game. I think the safest bet would be a tailgate location. So if anyone can suggest a "We're tailgating here, feel free to stop by" location and timeframe, I'll do my best. Would love to say hi to my fellow Rendezvous veterans.

I don't know the first thing about DC and the RFK stadium. Are the DC folks willing to pick out a location?

I guess that's a no. I'm in section 230 - just bought tickets.

Sorry, man, I never been to RFK. I hear it's a dump, and that from people with season tickets. Hopefully, it's a good venue for one night.
