In my opinion this is the first serious test for Frank de Boer, after a few promising 'warm-up games'. If we want something this season, this is one of those days on which we must keep our footing.

Away to Utrecht hasn't often been the easiest result. I think getting the win here today would be a real promising sign for the De Boer era. I feel better that he's in charge, it just feels different. Old school Ajax style! Also Rodney in the squad is nice to see

This game is giving me heart burn

Well you could see that coming. Terrible passing and dodgy defending. Got lucky with the post on the first shot and paid dearly on the second chance. This is going to be a tough hole to dig out of.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Where were our defenders, especially van der Wiel? Maybe looking for big contracts?

Wow, was this ever a display of bad defending. It could easily be 4-0 right now. Our defenders are sleep walking out there. Utrect is packing everyone in on defense now and waiting to counter. de Boer cannot be happy with this display!

No No. 9 and that means very very hard to threaten the defence.

Well you would thing that they would figure out that pitty patting the ball around the outside while Utrecht have 8 men between them and the goal isn't going to get them anywhere and that just MAYBE they need to come up with plan B.

maybe shooting outside the area can be the way to start

They need to firm up plan A, 'better defending' before even considering plan B. Shocking to see the replays at the half and see how poor de Zeeuw and van der Wiel were.

defending is poor but we have 2 holding midfielders who do not seem to be in the game. Our attackers are not in it but you cannot hope to win games like this without a striker.

You get the feeling that van der Wiel's attitude is "you didn't let me go when I wanted, so you aren't going to get the van der Wiel that you had last year."
