I would love to see 1 or 2 out of Bonevacia, Blind, Zeegelaar or Jozefzoon get a 10-15 minute run-out at the end - of course if we are cruising with a decent lead.

Would agree would especially like to see Jozefzoon.

I would like to see a bunch of goals so we don't have to rely on our defense to win this!

We should bring Paolo Maldini out of retirement. He can clearly do a better job than our two central defenders at this point. Very disappointing.

More bad defending from our central defenders. Toby should have cleared it to the side rather than the middle of the field. I don't know how much more I can take of this school yard football.

Fortunately it's on ESPN3 here in the US, the great stream only shows the defensive lapses better.

nvs8 is okay just keeps freezing for a second every now and then .

Our central defenders are woeful they cannot head .We haven't created much can it get worse!!

But you got your wish about our two Jong players who have acquitted themselves well.

At least we can still score goals! I would note that all the goal scorers are Ajax youth products.

Totally agree. I hope we can get our defense in synch soon, or at least that our offense can score enough goals to tide us over until our defense gets better. This reminds me a bit of how we started last year!

I know but with the same back 4 and keeper that kept a bunch of clean sheets down the stretch they ought to be doing much better. It's like they forgot everything they learned last summer and three of the four can't even blame WC fatigue.

Happy about the result . No Luis Suarez or Eyong Enoh and we still win by two. I know there were defensive lapses , but Ajax didn't concede in the second half . As said in previous posts , nine players from our system. Two fine talents blooded today and playing meaningful minutes in a match tighter than 4:2 would indicate should be good for the confidence of Roly Bonevacia and Florian Jozefzoon . I saw where Ajax.nl had BMJ talking glowingly about Bonevacia . Nice assist for Jozefzoon today. Last, Mounir El Hamdaoui seems a player who should be a real handful; especially if we don't sell Saint Luis . Watching ESPN3 , he seemed to stay quite active even if the ball wasn't going in for him today.

A much better 2nd half and what a great start from Jozefzoon . Bonevacia had a good game .As has been said with no Suarez and Enoh at least we won . A team full of our youth products is very pleasing for the future.

What a great moment.

Jozefzoon was brought on for the second half, the stadium announcer was just announcing the substitution and pretty much exactly when Jozefzoon's name sounded from the speakers he gave this perfect cross which made it 3-2. It was the first time he touched the ball.

Lovely moment, and the best thing is: Jozefzoon kept it up. I thought he was really good (and entertaining, too). A real Ajax winger.

Bonevacia also did well, although he didn't stand out as much, but that's got to do with his position of course (defensive midfielder). He looked like a better version of Anthony Obodai (remember him?). A bit Yakubu-esque.

Finally found a bar which is ready to show espn3 on a regular basis. Anyway saw the first half and about 15 minutes of the second half.

It was the same problem with us missing Enoh in mid-field. On the first one, Vertonghen got tasked with marking two forwards as Alderweireld wanted to stay in front of them and head the ball out. The second one shouldn't have happened at all. No one tracked the guy who scored the goal.

I really liked Bonevacia and Josefzoon. I would love to see them get 10-15 minutes every game.V d Wiel had a really good game. I think the 3 days rest did him good.

With a bit of luck it could've easily been 6-2 or 7-2. I think our mid-field will become a little stronger when Enoh comes back. Also with Suarez coming back at RW/RF, we'll be in much better shape to take on the likes of Kiev.

Vitesse has been bought by a Georgian business dude, thus becoming the first Dutch Eredivisie club to sell itself to an owner, 'English style'.

The new Georgian owner announced that several quality players will be bought this week, and that Vitesse will be Dutch champions in three years' time. We'll see about that championship, but I do believe we met Vitesse at the right moment. They could well be a considerably stronger side in one or two weeks' time.

The thought had never crossed my mind that these types of scenarios could, possibly, be the way back to the top for Dutch teams.
