Are there any speculations on what the starting lineup will look like?

I have no idea what the plan is...

My guess: Stekelenburg; Van der Wiel, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Anita; Enoh, De Zeeuw, Eriksen; Suárez, De Jong, Emanuelson.

Something like that.

I heard that Van der Wiel could be left off so his transfer value won't decrease.

No truth in that or at least no signs that this might happen.

A fortress of Greeks, and their f*cking brand of anti-soccer, and an Ajax that, especially this early in the season, lacks the flow and creativity to find a way through. One of those games that you could even lose if you don't play with 100% concentration for the full 90 minutes.

Van der Wiel will probably be left out. No point in cup tying him for this match, would decrease his value for other clubs by a substantial amount, and we are still looking to ship him out, especially after just spending €5 million on El Hamdaoui.

Logical thought, but someone told me the other day that players who see action in the qualifying stages will not be cup tied.

The qualifiers don't 'count', so to speak.

The rules have been changed in such a manner that a player is always eligible to play in the CL. Let's pretend that Van der Wiel plays for Ajax in the CL-playoffs:

--> Ajax qualifies for the group phase --> Van der Wiel plays CL with Ajax but can't play CL with another club

--> Ajax doesn't reacht the group phase --> Van der Wiel can play CL with another club

Im writing from Greece, and here is the news from PAOK for u:

they are missing their center forward (Muslimovic), due to injury. Also their first choice left back, and their CB is doubtful. There are other 2-3 players not in the very best of conditions, their new coach is an unknown one, with just a week on the job.

theoretically, this game should be won 4-0 easily.

PAOK has never played in the C.L group stage in their recent history.
The last year's team was really a solid defensive one, with one of the best coaches in the Greek League and now the national coach of them. But this season PAOK remains a mistery.
