a.k.a. The One And Only Official CUP FINAL THREAD!

Well appears some sort of common sense has prevailed and Ajax supporters will be at the Cup Final after all. Both clubs are to be given 10,000 tickets for sales to supporters through official club channels.

The strange thing is that the remaining tickets are to be sold to "neutral" fans whose tickets will have their names on them and ID to be shown on entry which matches name. Now to me this seems madness as their does not seem to be any segragation with these tickets then. And lets be honest who is going to a match like this and be neutral. Its like selling "neutral" tickets for an old firm match in Scotland or Germany v Holland international, nobody who goes is neutral.

LOL going to be an interesting day out

Winning at De Kuip would be the sweetest of the sweet. Losing would mean I couldnt look at my beautiful black away shirt ever again. This is gonna be one hell of a game.

Some statistics and facts...

We have a fantastic cup final record at De Kuip. The last time we lost a cup final was in 1981 (1-0 to AZ), but that one was played at the old Olympic Stadium. The last time we lost a cup final at De Kuip was in 1980 (3-1), which was also the last time we lost a cup final to Feyenoord - and the only time we played Feyenoord in the cup final, for that matter.

After 1981 Ajax played nine cup finals - and always won.

I saw five cup finals in Rotterdam: 1993 (against Heerenveen), 1998 (PSV), 2002 (Utrecht), 2006 (PSV) and 2007 (AZ) - and we always won. I did not go to the 1999 final (against Fortuna Sittard), which we also won.

Since the very first cup final, back in 1899, Ajax played 21 cup finals (first time was in 1917, against VSV Velsen) and won the thing 17 times.

I believe Ajax are allowed to bring 10.000 fans. Does not seem enough to be fair, does it ?

As long as it's 10,000 fans each (and it is) it's fine by me. 10,000 Ajax, 10,000 Feyenoord and 25,000 'neutrals'.

According to Valentijn Driessen of newspaper De Telegraaf there is such as crisis re: "who's responsible for what on cup final day?" that Ajax are now seriously considering not playing the final at all!

It would be understandable but really sad for Dutch football (if it still has something to do with football).

And apparently the Ajax and Fword squads were both in Barcelona yesterday to watch Champion's league match.

I don't get the threat by Ajax though for this game. It seems to be we are threatening not to play unless we get a game in Amsterdam in addition to the regularly scheduled final. Seems a bit like sour grapes to me, knowing the final would take place here anyway and still getting the allocated tickets. Seems a bit much to ask of the KNVB to change the rules now, unless I'm missing something.

They at least stayed in the same hotel.

There would be no away fans for both games, so no risk of trouble.

I think it's crazy to re-write competition rules, i.e. by adding a second leg. Ajax knew the possible outcomes when they began their cup run. To play the match and destroy the roaches in their own home , supporters or no supporters , would be really satisfying . A look at the table tells me that an Ajax with their minds on business is sure capable of a decisive win.

Ajax is going to pay for the damage their 'fans' will cause. So Ajax is terrified that the so called fans, will demolish a couple of trains etc etc etc. That's why Ajax is very reluctant for this game. And I can understand it.

No, Ajax will have to pay for any damage to the trains carrying the 10,000 registered Ajax supporters who get tickets for the game. To get to the game you are only allowed to go with trains specifically hired to travel from the ArenA to the Kuip as part of the combi package. Only Ajax Uikaart and season card holders can get these tickets, so yes, they are connected to the club as seasoncard holders

According to the small print Ajax rents the trains so they're responsible for any damage to the rented property.

looks like Cup Final is now over 2 legs - 1st leg in ArenA on April 25th with return on 6 May. Reason being is that security risks surrounding a one off game in Rotterdam are too high. Npt really a surprise considering stories floating about NL about trouble due to occur

I expect if Feyenoord roll over and let Twente win this weekend, that Ajax will be out for blood at the Amsterdam match!

Feyenuts fans are mad about the 2 legs final. Maybe we won't get the title, but they won't get the cup.

What a fucking farce!!!! Who's organising this event? Sucks of the EPL who couldn't organise anything! They obvisously don't think of the supporters who HAVE made arrangements and who are now going to be out of pocket!!!

The chance of a thirtieth title was always dependent on Twente choking . The only thing Ajax can do is continue to win , be it league or cup , and hope Twente stutter one more time.

I do think a two legged final is garbage . Ajax knew the final would be in Rotterdam. Just sounds to me like they don't want to have to cough up for probable damages to the trains.

Do the clubs make more money because of the two legged final? One would expect sold out crowds for each match. Maybe this is just a ploy on the part of both teams to help balance their budgets.
