This is the semi-final of the KNVB Cup.

Go Ahead Eagles away, at De Adelaarshorst ('The Eagles' Nest') in Deventer. Kick-off time is 20:45 CET.

Go Ahead Eagles are having a pretty good season, although the championship of the First Division seems out of reach. They're 3rd on the table (56 points out of 30 matches), ten points behind league leaders De Graafschap. Go Ahead Eagles did win one of the so-called 'period titles', which means they will compete in the post-season play-offs for promotion to the Eredivisie.

The other semi-final is Feyenoord vs FC Twente, which will be played the evening before our game: Wednesday 24 March, 20:45 CET, at De Kuip in Rotterdam.

I have always felt that Aissati is just not physical enough. Sulejmani did get the goal against Juventus but otherwise has been too spotty to warrant first team action. Big question is whether we can get anything at all for these two players, even if it's just €1000 just to get them off of our payroll.

Looking at the squad I see Verhoeven is in it again for the second game in a row . I wonder if Steks or Vermeer are carrying a small injury ? We haven't picked 3 goalies in a squad before this season .
I see Kennedy has been dropped yet again .

I actually looked up the cup final date , which is April 25 . The final league game being a week later .I find that very strange .Why is the final not after the last league game?

Because of those stupid play-offs I guess.

And Vermeer is about to become father, this is why Verhoeven is picked up.

They could depend on the result of the cupfinal. Will it be between the places 5 till 8 for an EL-spot or will number 9 get a shot too? At least they know what's up now in the last round. Althoguh this year it will only matter if the Eagles will win tomorrow.

Feyenoord just went up 2-1. That can't be too good for Twente's confidence.

That's right.

An Ajax vs Feyenoord cup final is a very rare thing, by the way: it happened just once before, in 1980. We lost at De Kuip: 3-1.

This would be the second one. Ever.

It would seem common sense to give some play to our subs today, and thus give rest to a few key players for the coming league games.

We've tried that against AGOVV and Dordrecht. Let's learn from those mistakes instead of repeating them.

IMO we should focus on the league, no matter what.

In this kind of games you have to keep the pace up. Fast passing and let the Go Ahead players run after the bal.

They should be exhausted at half time. Then you score twice, and that wraps it up.

I nominate we call this the Marc Overmars Cup. Who's with me?
