I expect us to win this. But it won't make a difference in the end, I'm afraid.

I definitely don't thin we'll win the title.

We might beat them in Amsterdam, but in any given series of ten matches we will make more mistakes than them. That makes the difference.

You raise an excellent point and one that has troubled me for the past couple of years. I don't think that there is a big difference in talent between the clubs but there is a huge gulf between the two teams in the mental aspect of the two teams. Maybe it has been due to the managers we have had, who knows; but I do think it has a lot to do with us dropping points against teams that we should handily beat.

Sunday was a fantastic match and what a goal by Urby set up by Pantelic. Another soft goal again this time by Vertonghen , what was he doing!!

I only watched the second half of this game, but it was one of the more enjoyable halves of Ajax football I've seen in a while. Our midfield was great. Engelaar was terrible and Affelay was neutralized to the point of committing insanely stupid fouls. If the pitch at the ArenA had been a little better, some of the through balls on our counterattacks might have found their targets and we might have scored even more.

I think we've left it too late, but at this point the team is playing as well as it has in years. Second place is definitely possible, and we have an outside chance at the title.

Great to have the site back up -- like the song says: "You don't miss your water 'til the well runs dry."

In line with some of the comments above -- a while back, when we were at the bottom of our game, I mentioned that I felt that the highest the team would get this year is 3rd, and we should just accept it and enjoy the team for the rest of the season, and build for next year. So -- as long as the boys continue to play good football, I don't really mind if we only finish third this year (not that I wouldn't love to see second or first), but as long as we can take the way we are ending this year and carry it over and use it to build for next year, I won't have the bitter taste in my mouth that the previous couple of seasons left me with.

Well, was at the Arena for the game. Great atmosphere, and impressive win.
Seems very likely that Psv will lose more points before the season is over.

I was wondering if there would be any further implications... Afellay was a total bitch during that game, and seemed to get away with a lot. ... And I LOVE P$V's crying about lack of justice for Enoh. Just makes it all the sweeter.

PSV's tears make me laugh.

Ibrahim Afellay is a whining little cheat who desrves what he got . That said, I spent ten seconds reading the story. I would like to express my gratitude to ajaxusa for linking a thread that had soccerettes on it. What a beautiful wakeup call on a Saturday morning !! You rock Jim !!
