25 Jan 2009: FC Groningen - Ajax

Another tough one coming up... (and we'll be without Dario Cvitanich).

AZ play De Graafschap at home on Saturday evening. Looks like we will have to win again in order to stay close to AZ...

Any thoughts on what we are going to do for a striker for this match? I don't like the idea of Suarez playing inside as he will take a lot of punishment. Maybe Marco brings in Bodul for this match?

Micky at number 10 and Enoh at number 9. He's played there at Jong Ajax. Or, if Aissati is read, Micky to # 9 and Aissati at # 10.

Pardon my ignorance, but who is Micky?

Sulejmani, I think he started using that nickname recently.

No, they already called him Micky at Heerenveen. It's short for Miralem.

Right now it feels like we're merely trying to keep up with AZ: they play Volendam (away) and De Graafschap (home), while we play NEC and Groningen away...

But if we beat Groningen and can stay close to AZ, things will turn around for a while: for a few weeks we will have the easier opponents - and then it will be interesting to see what happens.

One more 'battle' that we have to survive - after that, we can start thinking about closing in!

Come on, Ajax!

De Graafschaap have picked up Ben Sahar on loan. Can't say I've ever seen him play but he's been listed as having a lot of potential and he scored in his first game last week. Who knows...

From the highlights he seemed to do pretty well.

Just great . Ajax goes from Kurt Glom (Blom) last week to having Jan Wegereef as ref this week. Eleven v. twelve before a ball has been kicked. Oh well, at least Ajax knows what it is to play a man down.

Not to throw cold water -- but we seem to do better against the tougher opposition and kind of lose the plot against the weaker teams. It's like we feel all we have to do is walk onto the field to beat them -- and many times they beat us by outworking us. Let us hope that we will bear down just as hard on them as we do on the better teams.

Shitfuck, all the Eredivisie streams have been taken off myp2p.eu!

This could be annoying...

Enoh on '9'? Isn't Enoh a half, and a defensive one at that? And injured too? Why do so many seem to need to play this match with a fantasy line-up...

I would put Su and Su up front, include one or two guys who can send a decent pass on the midfield added with some defensive midfielders plus the regular defensive lot at back. Let Groningen burn up its energy in the first hour and finish them off in the latter part of the match. 0-2 sounds like a result that will make everybody happy. That score is low enough so Groningen can leave with their heads up high while good enough for us to keep up with AZ.

0-2 won't make Groningen happy, that's for sure. They gonna go for all 3 points today and a loss, no matter 0-1 or 0-5 will be disapoitment for them.

As for our starting selection, i would go with Suarez as No.9, Urby on left wing, Leo on right wing, Sulejmani in center as No.10, Gabri on right, De Jong on left.

Having seen a headline about illegal streams earlier in the week no one from Holland came back on it. I ckecked myp2p last night and noticed no dutch games but justin tv was still showing PSV and Az games.

It does look as if myp2p2 have been stopped from showing advertising our games!!
Sopcast may still be showing it and justintv and ustreamtv have shown games .

Yeah. We just have to hope MyP2P has simply stopped advertising the games, and they're still showing on SopCast.

Does anyone remember the appropriate channel names or numbers?

Pensfanholland was one of them...

Thanks chugger. P2P will probably not advertise but I doubt anything can be done to stop illegal streaming. I do hope we can get sopcast streams as they work perfectly on media player. As I said last week Justintv show the games but the quality is not so good.

It seems you can pay (from abroad too) to watch the stream from Eredivisie Live :
http://live.eredivisielive.nl/clubplaye ... ubCode=AJA

I don't know if this possibility is new, but 6€ is a bit expensive I think. I may try it though.

Looks interesting - please let us know how you get on. Today is live on Setanta but if the quality is any good I'd certainly be willing to give this a go, evan at 6 Euro's a go.

P.S. 6 Euro's is even more expensive here - make that about £5.99 and still counting :1evil.gif:

Fortunately ESPN 360 carries all the Ajax matches here in the US. :headbang.gif:

Well, when I posted my message I just had to give my credit card number to receive the code needed to watch the video. I didn't do it at the time and now I can't access anymore to the form to pay. I get the usual message: "This video is only viewable from within the Netherlands."

Too bad for them, I'm watching a free stream now in good quality: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/rusplus
