It's all speculation at this point whether someone like Adriaanse would have made more of a difference, but the reality is that we lost the title by 3 points. One more win and we would have been champions and probably not even talking about any of this. With it being so close, you can scrutinize almost anything, whether it be the coach, players, or management being to blame for the end result.
That's precisely my point. 3 more points and we'd be Champions and guaranteed a place in the CL group stage, along with the money and allure that comes with that. If an experienced and proven coach had got even just 5% more out of the squad, that would have given us the 3 more points we needed.

If that meant Van Basten would have had to wait for another opportunity a few years down the road to manage Ajax, then so be it. Ajax is more important than Marco van Basten.

Ajax should have just told Ten Cate to finish the season with Ajax. But they wanted to play it nice. Ten Cate showed absolutely no class; other than that of a first class jerk.

With van Basten waiting in the wing it made little sense to offer the position to a serious interim coach. So Ajax payed the price either for being too nice, or for Ten Cate's shocking lack of loyalty.

I don't think I've ever seen an Ajax coach with such disrespect for the club and its tradition. The mistake was to hire that piece of sh*t in the first place.

Ten Cate knew that his days were numbered, Van Geel was happy to get rid of him. They made a huge mistake by giving Koster the first team.

It was another compromise. One of many. That's why we needed Cruijff's input. Someone who doesn't compromise. Someone who has the courage to wipe the slate clean and the vision to build effectively.

But van Basten didn't get the message.

I don't think Cruijff would have done the dirty job in itself. He may have the courage to say how things must be done, but to do them is another story...

Ten Cate's shocking lack of loyalty... that man jumped ship just before he was going to get the push anyway. He saw the writing on the wall. Can't say I wouldn't have done the same in his position.

It's going to be interesting to see how Van Basten is perceived by the Ajax fans if he comes home from the Euros with nul points.

But they care about coache's pedigree, which for Marco-san is the Oranje.

AND FYI HOLLAND WILL MAKE IT OUT OF THE GROUP STAGES.

I must be in the minority group then :confused.gif:

Would love the see the Dutch national side lift the trophy again after so long, but in all honesty can't see them doing it. But hey, if Greece can win the bloody thing...

Sure, I want them to see the cup also, but I don't think that many real Ajax supporters are also fanatic Oranje fans.
