Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
I turned on my tv this morning and they were showing the last 10 minutes. I had no idea what the game situation was. Then the announcer said that we were up and I started shitting my pants. I had no idea that they were down a man until it was over.
From what I saw, Blind was a boss at left back, and Klaassen's heroics in getting that corner kick made my day.
Fantastic win. Looks like we're in Europe either way since Celtic got beat up by Milan. Proud to be an Ajacied.

Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
The news came on the internet, after the game was over on tv, that a supporter was badly injured after falling from the F-Side stand.
I do hope he wins his fight and gets well soon.

Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
Always highly recommended: the matchday videos of Ronald 'Pi_Alfa' Pieloor. Great videos on his YouTube channel.
The Ajax vs Barça installment is great as always, but it also contains footage of the accident (the aftermath of the accident, that is). Watch it if you're curious. The 'accident footage' is roughly from 4:00 to 6:00 minutes. WARNING: a lot of blood around the 5:30 mark.

According to the latest reports the guy is still alive, but how serious the damage...? We don't know.
Very sad, this. Very sad.

BTW: bloke who kicked Boilesen out of the game should have been sent off, or am I overreacting?

Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
No, it was just a well deserved yellow card. He pulled Boilesen down and it was just one of those weird stretches that pulled the muscle. Pique is really not a dirty player in the same way that Mascherano is. He also gave full props to Ajax for playing so well.Kowalczyk schreef:BTW: bloke who kicked Boilesen out of the game should have been sent off, or am I overreacting?

Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!
Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
Regarding the accident, I thought it was really good of Klaassen to put his shirt at the spot of the fall. Ajax are more than just a bunch of heartless football players!

Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
Either way, I found it very satisfying in the first half to see Barça resort to heavy fouling to break up our play. That wasn't the only incident where one of their players deliberately fouled to stop an attack.Orange14 schreef:No, it was just a well deserved yellow card. Have to say for a team who play so called pretty football Barca were very physical with lots of cynical fouls.Something that Ajax do not resort to I am pleased to say.

But it raises the obvious question, why in Christ's name does a stadium need a friggin' concrete moat???
“If I wanted you to understand it, I would have explained it better.”
Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
Im so sorry for the horrendous news about the two ajax fans, I hope I can find a tribute to them on youtube somewhere.

Anyway... My three 'Men of the Match' were Blind, Serero and Moisander in that order.
Absolutely superb, those three.
Also, I thought Fischer was really good. He finally seems to be on the way back.

It seems that some of the forum members over here were correct. It wasn't a penalty:

But hey...! Who cares? The main thing is......

Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona
What a great great night. So many good performances but Klassen was superb in midfield doing all the stuff that does not always get recognised, where he chased down Pique and won the corners off him in the last few minutes was just great to see well done fella!!
The crowd were excellent cheering the team through some backs to the wall stuff after Veltman saw red the only sad part of the evening was the guy who fell into the moat, wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
Barca will claim it would have been different if Messi had played but this is what happens when you build a team around one man!! hahaha.
Final word must be about Barcas keeper, my god he was shit, and his haircut is just completely obscene he looked like a fat middle aged nightclub owner.

Re: 26 Nov 2013: Ajax - FC Barcelona

Have Ajax instigated the decline of Barcelona this season??? Two losses in a row....questions are now being asked....is it AFC Barcelona, or AFC Messi!!!!!!!
