many reports suggest that blind could choose boakye as central defender near vermaelen and playing maduro in miedfield togheter with pienaar and lindenbergh... what do you think? too many risks....I would prefer juanfran in and urby in midfield
ps: happy ajacied birthday.. :xyxthumbs:

O tempora o mores
happy birthday Pablo V
If Blind hasn't used Boakye in the Eredivisie why the hell would he choose to use him today against Inter!?. I think it's a big risk that we shouldn't take. I don't like Maduro in the defense but I think that based on his experience he is more safe at the moment than Boakye.
So, absolutely no chances that Sneijder will miracously make it tonight? :eusa_pray: Well at least we got Pienaar back. I really hope for a good game of our 3 guys in the attack, especially from Huntelaar. I read an interview Mancini gave to UEFA and he talked pretty good about Klaas, so lets not be surprised today that he will receive special attention from the Inter defense and he won't have a lot of space to move.

Materazzi? :scared:ajaxperu schreef: I read an interview Mancini gave to UEFA and he talked pretty good about Klaas, so lets not be surprised today that he will receive special attention from the Inter defense and he won't have a lot of space to move.
Let's hope he gets sent off before KJH breaks his legs.

Forget the first 25, we couldn't establish any pressure at all and should be happy Inter didn't score. After Adriano's miss we played good football, still I think we should use the flanks a little bit more, Trabelsi had a couple of visits on the opposite half but didn't get the ball. Big mistake by Peter Fröjdfelt not to give us a penalty in a similar situation like Inter's.
Second half:
0-1 Huntelaar '84

1-0 Final. Oh well. Judging by the commentary on the Dutch threads in this forum our boys were outmanned but gave a good account of themselves.
Probably a better way to go than that weak capitulation against Auxerre in the UEFA cup last year.
Look forward to hearing the opinions of those who were able to watch the match.

We had only three good chances to score tonight: Twice when Markus was unmarked on the left side of the penalty box and didn't receive the ball; the other was a heading opportunity for Huntelaar with which he didn't connect properly.
We have no reason to complain. Inter was the better side and deserve to be in the next round.

It was a very good goal from Stankovic. He drove in from the left side of the Ajax penalty box; Wrong footed Maduro, cut towards goal and fired a shot towards Steke's far post. The shot avoided Steke's reach and swerved at the last to nestle in the corner of the Ajax net. X'Caveslacker schreef:FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Goal Stankovic.
I wouldn't even call them chances.
The three best Ajax players on the pitch were Stekelenburg, Trabelsi and Pienaar.
Juanfran ran around a lot and generally nullified Figo, but also gave away a lot of possession.
Rosenberg did OK, didn't really excel but wasn't invisible either, like a lot of other players.
Lindenbergh is a shadow of the player he was at AZ.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was completely played out of the match.
I think we can just be happy it didn't end up 4-0, because it very easily could have.

Ajax played to it's possibilities tonight. The injuries and the quality of Inter made that this was the best possible result. I'm proud of Ajax. We lost only 1-0 and played 2-2 in the home game agains a very strong team.
Inter deserved to go through, simply because they were better, although they played it on the typical Italian way which is not my cup of tea.
This was it. Now we can focus on the oh so important play-offs for qualification for the Champions League next year.
