I wore my Ajax shirt to choir practice last night! Our conductor who his a River Plate supporter from Argentina stopped rehearsal for a minute to acknowledge the momentous day in history!!
On the VAR "controversy", there was no conclusive proof that the ball was across the touch line. We had two views on the replay here in the US and it certainly was clear to me that this was the case. The problem is that the decision should have been made by the VAR official right away, he should have told Brych that the linesman decision stands. No point in taking 2-3 minutes to look at this.
Here is the link to the current UEFA Champions League regulations: https://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Do ... WNLOAD.pdf The Yellow Card rule is at Section 50.04 and the exact language is: "...all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are notcarried forward to the semi-finals." Thus, all the Ajax players carrying YCs absolutely need to avoid getting one in the quarter finals.

beating real like that last night was sure PR gold. this won us some new fans for sure. it also won us an additional 10.5 million euros for reaching the quarter finals (and 1.9 million for the win), so we are now up to 75 million.
there are some pretty funny comments on reddit. apparently sergio ramos filmed part of his documentary while he attended the game
also, can we sign this guy once half our team leaves after this season:

Weirdly enough, I had a dream in January (I think) about 2-1 loss and 3-0 win. Came pretty close. How do I repeat this for the Quarters?

Wait for the draw next Friday(?) and then sleep on it for the weekend, with a pen and paper by your side. Set the alarm at random times during the night and once you dream of it, write it down and tell us!Amol schreef:Weirdly enough, I had a dream in January (I think) about 2-1 loss and 3-0 win. We do know that Tottenham and their four ex-Ajax players are through to the quarter finals. Would be weird facing them.

I would prefer to chill in a tie with none other than AS Roma

Me too! That would be a great matchup. Juve and Barca are the only two teams I really want to avoid.
Also, I stand by everything I’ve said about VAR this season. Just another opportunity for the ref to make a mistake. Don’t think anyone was expecting that to be a penalty.

Avoid Man City and our Spanish little brother ,Barca, until the final.
Big concern for me is that we now play 8 games in April,9 if we get to the semis and we use a core of 13 players. With Tadic in recent weeks a striker KJH is not playing much so we are in effect using 12 men. We surely cannot get through April's schedule without big problems. Having 2 weeks off for Internationals this month is crazy for all teams left in Europe.

Next week's matches should prove to be interesting. Only Athletico Madrid have an edge after the first round. ManCity should go through but if Schalke get an away goal it could be interesting. Cannot predict the other two ties that both ended up 0-0 in the first match. Both could come down to away goals.

Evidently our fans pulled down the netting in the away end and threw a few items on at the end.UEFA are investigating and we face a match ban without fans after problems in Benfica.
Question.
2 or 3 Dutch sites suggest we could get a ban for the home leg of the quarters but official site says they are not selling away tickets. Did UEFA rule a future ban on away or home fans after Benfica ?
