I Can´t believe what I just saw.. what a perfect plan by Ten Haag what a great game by the players over theese two matches.. Think this team is just as good as the 95/96 team or at least play as good.. Gongratz to all of you Ajacieds :ajaxscarf.gif:

Incredible game ,one of the greatest performances ever ,I think Ajax fans will talk about this for many years . Destroying Real in Madrid is only something Cruijff's no 2 team Barca ever do .

Words cannot describe that win Ajax are back where they belong.

I do think VAR is a joke if it takes longer than a minute, 3 mins to decide whether a ball had gone out of play should not be allowed but relief it was given ,then Lasse produced one of his magic free kicks.

Orange just give them all 10 for ratings.

Good fortune comes to teams that are well prepared and ten Hag had his team set up to succeed. Yes, there was a bit of luck with some missed shots from Real Madrid but take nothing away from this side from Amsterdam. They come to play and show no fear. Pressure all over the field and some fine goalkeeping made this one a convincing European victory.

Player Ratings:

Onana (7.5) - some really fine positional play to make big stops
Tagliafico (6.5) - had defensive troubles but kept plugging away
Blind (8) - wonderful match tonight winning balls
de Ligt (8.5) - put some steel in the defense
Mazraoui (5) - really beaten badly almost all game BUT he makes a wonderful tackle and keeps the ball in play to lead to a goal
Schöne (6.5) - stunning free kick for the fourth goal but a defensive liability
de Jong (6.5) - outstanding first half but then a horrible give away trying to be too cute in front of his keeper
van de Beek (7) - did all the small thing son the night and was called or off sides twice when he wasn't
Neres (7.5) - really good match both on offense and tracking back
Tadich (9) - MOTM with his passing and great third goal
Ziyech (6) - should have scored a fifth goal if he just put his foot on the ball and didn't track back on the Madrid goal leaving Mazraoui to deal with two wing players
de Wit (6) - solid performance coming on late
Dolberg (6) - drew a couple of fouls late
Veltman (6) - good enough in the short spell and will likely start the next match because of Mazraoui's suspension

Wonderful to see Ajax back among the powers especially given all the qualifying matches.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

I think it's after the next round that yellow cards are reset.

If so, why did Ramos get his second card on purpuse in Amsterdam?

Because yellow card accumulation drill counts at this stage of the competition. Hence why Mazroui is suspended

If you read the rules you would see yellow cards are reset after this stage of the competition

It’s not true, yellow cards are wiped before the semi finals.

Great job and given that we should've won the first leg, no more than we deserved. Tadic is a hero, he's struggled a bit at times in the league but been excellent in the CL. Onana, vd Beek, Blind and de Ligt also had great matches.

Bring on the QF!

I was stuck in a meeting till the 70th minute and then was afraid to watch the game for the last 20 minutes :blush.gif:

I've had a stupid smile on my face all day and I just finished watching the full highlights of the game. This is an incredible result.

I'm still confused about the VAR review of the sideline incident before the 3rd goal. That ball totally looked like it went out from one camera angle.

Bring on the next round.

No the VAR was completely right with that call Amol. The ball not being fully 100 percent out with every diameter.
But it took bloody long so it was nerve breaking.

I love this Youtube video, cut and paste of many many many highlights..!

Would this be an inappropriate time to mention that I still don't think Veltman is a very good player and when he's on the pitch he looks like an accident waiting to happen?

Great that the football world is praising the name of our magically club.BBC site 100's of english fans praising us and having ago at Ramos.Fair to say that Real are not a popular club but outside Holland Ajax remain very popular.Johan's legacy will be with us for eternity.

I guess on the night we played our 14th game of European football this season the score 1-4 is very apt and JC would have enjoyed it.

This night will live with me for the rest of my days, one of the great games played by our beautiful club.
