Wow, was that ever a bad half of football. 10 seconds to get a nice goal and the rest of the time it was just excruciatingly bad. Veltman and Traore have to come off as neither is any good at all. Sanchez was really lucky on the free kick that his man didn't score, horrible marking. Onana had a very good save to bail out Veltman. Nothing more that I saw that was in anyway positive. Maybe the sneak in another goal in the 2nd half but I suspect Onana will have to work hard to keep it 0-1.

Well apart from the goal another boring half. Our defence making mistakes ,Klaassen the only midfielder doing anything.Poor old Dolberg has had one chance.A 2nd early should be enough

Why not, Veltman has given the ball away on every occasion save one time. He was beaten badly twice by his winger. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

A real nail biter of an ending -- so many of the players had bad games today, it was a miracle that we actually won.

Defence all poor,other 2 midfielders moderate.Younes had a decent game . Dolberg is struggling and needs a rest but Cassierra is not good enough and we have no other strikers.

Meant to add the worst peformance today by the ref.Both sides had penalties not given ,why on earth did Viergever and Kluivert get yellows when Vitesse made far worse tackles.

That was absolutely the ugliest 0-1 victory that I've seen in all my years watching Ajax. Can any of the so-called players do anything right. Awful ball control, passing, decision making, defending - every part of the game was just awful. Fortunately, Vitesse could not finish any of the chances they had so Ajax live on to fight yet another week. Maybe it was the hangover from the trip to Warsaw but games like this are not acceptable.

Player Ratings:

Onana (6) - that flap at a ball near the end of the match was comical and he was lucky that it was a poor shot and Veltman had the clear
Viergever (6) - some OK defending and he was trying to do something on offense with a couple of crosses
Riedewald (6) - decent match for someone who has not played in several months
Sanchez (5.5) - some very poor defending from someone who has been steady
Veltman (4) - redeemed himself with two good interventions in the last five minutes of play other wise he is a '2'; just a horrible match
Schöne (5) - a charitable average mark but really did very little
el Capitan (6.5) - got a goal, missed a penalty, ran like hell all match, had a goal line clearance, and showed his usual poor ball skills
Ziyech (4) - the coming of Miralem Suleijmani; another waste of transfer money
Younes (5.5) - played with a sense of control and had a great pass to Klaassen for the goal
Dolberg (4.5) - too selfish on one of the two possessions he had in the match
Traore (3.5) - back to Chelsea ASAP
Kluivert (5.5) - decent game marred by a silly foul that was a deserved Yellow card; at 17 he is better than Traore
van de Beek (5.5) - kept a cool head when one was needed
Cassiera (NR) - hard to say anything about his short performance

Feyenoord have the late match today but that doesn't matter as this team is just very poor. I don't think Bosz has done much to make us forget the last couple of seasons under FdB. Anyway, a chance to stay in Europe on Thursday when Legia visit the Arena and then home to Heracles next Sunday. Is it too much to ask for some football players to show up on the pitch?

Yes Sierhuis but he is still being played for the U19's this week v Kiev in the CL u19. He has an eye for goal so maybe we can use him as a sub soon. We needed to sign a proper experienced old striker


Agree ratings I dont think we have improved our game since Bosz took over.We have been struggling to win many games with few goals.

At least I enjoy the Jong games playing good attacking football with 3 quality midfielders . Still think those 3 x19 year olds would perform and create more than our current 3 but Davy still scores goals.Well someone has to ,none of the so called forwards score goals consistantly
