Nice performance and we couldn't have expected to do much better business with PSV at home to the bottom club.

Normally if you said Ajax just have to beat de Graafschap for the title you'd put your house on it, but it's still going to be nail biting next weekend I reckon!

PSV 6-2 on a 93rd minute goal - grrr -- but at least goal difference is the same as at the start. As I was expecting us to lose some ground on goal difference today, I suppose I can be satisfied with the end of the day result.

Well Twente didn't make it easy but a great finish from Ajax for the 4-0. Some great goals!
Almost Champions!!

Well this has completely exceeded my expecations. I was expecting PSV to win 6-0 and us to win 2-0 / 2-1 which would have reduced the gap in our goal differences. But, we stay exactly where we started the day - +6.

PSV are away to PEC and we're away to De Graafschap next Sunday.

I was rude to our visitors from Montreal and watched the match today (you have to be true to your team!!! ) First really nice match in some time. Other than one shot that Cillessen nicely saved, Twente really did not threaten much at all. Ajax were always looking to press forward and it was nice to see this positive play for a change. I'm giving Younes my MOTM award as he was always tricky and threatening. His pass to Viergever just narrowly missed being a goal when the lob bounced off the post and his overall play was just great. Props to Serero as well, really good midfield play today and maybe he has a place in the team for next year. PSV are up 6-2 over Cambuur in the 90th minute so the GD looks to stay the same.

Player Ratings:

Cillessen (7) - really had little to do other than the one very nice save
Tete (7) - good to have him back at LB; totally dominating on defense and his offensive movements were quite good; hope we can get him to extend the contract ASAP
Viergever (7.5) - good defensively and his rampaging run forward almost netted another goal
van der Hoorn (7.5) - solid match on defense and a nice goal which as I read it was his first of the league campaign
Veltman (7.5) - very good on defense and had some nice crosses into the middle
Mr. Irreplaceable (6.5) - solid but really should have passed to Fischer in the 89th minute who was standing wide open on the right wing
Serero (7) - wonderful match from a player I often criticize; managed to draw his usual number of fouls and I think only had one back pass all match!
Klaassen (4) - woeful touches; time to move to Napoli to make way for Nouri and van de Beek who IMO are better talents
Younes (8) - dangerous all match long and did some nice tracking back when the match was still tight
Milik (6) - OK game but won't be drawing any big offers from clubs based on this match performance
Cerny (6.5) - had a nice goal and another nice run past his man but that was really all he did; still he's going to be a player for the future
Riedewald (6) - good to have him back in the lineup even though briefly
the €6M Man (6) - now a substitute of the bench; had some good touches in the final 20 minutes
Fischer (6.5) - very nice goal and was standing all alone in the 89th minute watching Gudelj waste a chance to pass it to him

Final match next week and PSV have the tougher job facing PEC Zwolle. Team needs to continue to be focused!

Everytime we approach the end of the championship, we seem to get 100% from bench players that stand in for our starters. Serero, Viergever, Van der Hoorn and so on... It is clear that we live and die as a TEAM

A little bit harsh on Klaassen re: time to move to Napoli. It was a bad game, but all of a sudden Serero and Fischer and a list of other players doing well, who usually dont perform well for Ajax.

The squad depth is actually pretty good right now. De Boer just needs to make sure he rotates players more often in easier games to keep everyone happy and let them get some game rhythm.

So much depth that Frank de Boer is set for a dilemma at the end of the season, particularly in defense. Out of Dijks, Tete, Veldman, Van der Hoorn, Viergever and Riedewald. Who does he play? Since Riedewald has recently returned from injury I expect him to start on the bench. That leaves five left. Someone is going to be disappointed. Veldman has done exceptionally well at right back, but now that Tete is fully fit, he may have to shift into the centre of defense. Either Viergever or Van der Hoorn have to be sacrificed. Unless of course Viergever's yellow card today means he is suspended for the last game? Nevertheless he should be sacrificed. As Van der Hoorn scored today.

What a great win , I know I should have stayed at home ,my cricket was crap.I dont have internet on my phone so put it out my mind but got an update at 3-0 then the final final score. Will watch the game later but will be here as normal next Sunday.

If we dont beat de Graafschap we dont deserve to be champs,never mind that silly late goal v Roda. Hopefully Menig and Becker will help us by beating PSV.

watched the game in full earlier not a lot to add.I bet it was nerve wracking for you lot until that 2nd goal . I was feeling nervous and knew the result!

Wonderful goal by Cerny, we will see a lot more of him in the first team next season.Younes was superb and praise for v d Hoorn and Viergever, both only spare players but because of injuries have settled into the team and defending reasonable well.

Questions for next week's team

Serero or Bazoer? Serero has had 2 good games but Bazoer has gone a bit jaded towards the end so maybe Serero plays.

El Ghazi Cerny or Schone for RW? I will go for El Ghazi if fit .

Finally defence. Dijks back or keep Tete? Dijks should come back,Riedewald stay on the bench with Tete. Tete played very well on the left but I would have Dijks back next week ,he adds a lot with his attacking style. The other 3 have been settled for a few games and should remain.

If we lose next week we cannot complain about any other games where we dropped points. I do think we will win and PSV will probably end up dropping points.

Yesterday was also Cillessen 19th clean sheet of the season (league competition). I wonder if this is either a record or somewhere close to a record for an Ajax keeper.

EDIT: Correction, Boer played in one of the matches so Cillessen only had 18. I did find over at Ajax Showtime the mark for clean sheets by Ajax which is 20 from back in 2009-10 when they had 20. That was the season that they also scored 106 goals but still finished second, one point behind FC Twente.

I've watched every game on tv this season...mainly because I live here in Crete...and this is the first time that I've managed to get onto the site...wouldn't let me log in!!!! Wonder why I've suddenly been sent an email???

To think it's going right down to the wire....a win and the title belongs to Ajax!!!
