Totally bizarre substitution Fischer for el Ghazi. Take of Gudelj and move Sinkgraven back to the midfield!

That's what you get for that pathetic try to keep the result when you have one man advantage.

Gezz...Veltman gave it away for the 2-2. The center of the defense is a weak area.

By the way, to get a stream (in Belgium at least) you can put €5 into an online Unibet account (without spending it on a bet) and you can live stream just about anything in sports.... (without ads, pop ups etc)

true. why take your foot off the the gas when a third would have broke their spirit. We needlessly gave them and the home crowd the hope for a comeback.Van basten schreef:That's what you get for that pathetic try to keep the result when you have one man advantage.

Re: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round Ajax-Rapid Vienna
I only watched the 2nd half ,cricfree had a good stream, and we should have won but that CD looks weak. Poor defending for their 2nd. The kids looked ok but it badly needs a decent experienced defender and striker
Re: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round Ajax-Rapid Vienna
30 minutes of 11 v 10 and Vienna were always the more threatening team. Ajax were terribly slow and defensively poor. Maybe it was the wet pitch, but the pitch is wet for both teams. There was about 20 minutes of decent football in the first half, second half was a total disaster on the part of all the players except for Cillessen (who is probably wishing he was in Manchester right now). FdB makes a terrible substitution bringing Fischer on for el Ghazi when he should have subbed of Gudlej who did nothing but ball watch on defense and offensively poor. I'm afraid that we are in for another long season of, wait for it, LIFELESS FOOTBALL!
Player Ratings (I had a very small screen on the feed and it was hard to pick out some of the offending players so keep that in mind).
Cillessen (6.5) - made a couple of good saves but his kicking was poor, maybe received more passes than any other Ajax player
Dijks (5) - was not a total failure but nothing special
Riedewald (5) - partially at fault on the first goal because of poor defending
Veltman (5) - good until the horrible decision on the 2nd goal, don't know what play he intended to make
Tete (4.5) - always stay between the man and the goal, Tete didn't and Vienna get their first goal
Gudelj (4) - another poor transfer decision? sure looks like it based on this game, ball watching and totally botching a free shot on goal
Bazoer (4.5) - one shot on goal that was well saved in the last couple of minute and that was his highlight
Klaassen (5.5) - two well taken goals but can anyone remember him doing anything else of consequence
Sinkgraven (6) - best field player for my money today, some insightful passes but should have been in the midfield
Milik (5.5) - good cross for the 2nd Klaassen goal and that was it, MIA the rest of the game
el Ghazi (4.5) - had a couple of chances and one good pass through Gudelj who missed the shot
Fischer (5) - for not making any mistakes (but of course when you hardly get a touch it's difficult to screw up)
Sonogo (NR) - not on long enough to say whether he's any good or not
This was an unacceptable performance plain and simple. Vienna should have been put away in the first half and was not. Thursday night EL football if we are really lucky.

Re: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round Ajax-Rapid Vienna
Vienna is a pretty poor team, we should have finished this off. If we have this much trouble against Vienna, I don't want to know how this Ajax will perform against next-round teams like Man U or the likes.
It's pretty clear that not much progress has been made. Management can be blamed.

Re: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round Ajax-Rapid Vienna
It was only the first game so it's may be too soon to draw any conclusions on the management, and so on. But it sure was a terrible performance and looked a lot like last season...

2nd let at home today. Starts in a couple hrs. Will most likely be the same squad as last week.
Ajax needs to be careful they really need to get through this one.

Re: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round Ajax-Rapid Vienna
I think we'll be OK. Here's hoping for a good stream and some nice football.
Edit: apparently a front three of el Ghazi, Milik and Fischer. Who was our third forward in the other leg?

Sinkgraven played on the left wing.

Sinkgraven drops back into the MF for Gudelj and Fischer starts up front.

Well this is not starting out according to script. Multiple defensive blunders and Ajax are down 0-1.

Bazoer and Sinkgraven just couldn't clear it. Well, if you assume they were trying to

Re: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round Ajax-Rapid Vienna
We're in a difficult place now. Rapid is happy to put everyone under the ball. We know we have trouble breaking a defense that is hanging back and we're vulnerable to counter attacks as our ball control is not very solid.
Though we need only score one goal. Ouch, make that two. We're screwed.
