Oh god, LIgeon's positioning! Just lucky we didn't get punished in the first 60 minutes

We've allowed too many chances! What an easy goal they scored, de boer should pay attention to this.

Sweet goal; el Ghazi to Schone for the tap in

Schone was the best in my opinion, the same form he showed last season. Ligeon was fantastic going forward but very poor defensively (more of a right winger maybe?). Klassen to me was the least involved of the midfielders and milik was poor.

Poor defending finally caught up to the team when van der Hoorn was badly out of position. Truthfully, we were lucky to only concede the one goal. Very good midfield play and not so much of the tiki-tack football that we saw last season. Still not convinced about Serero but he does go over easily and draws silly fouls from the defense. Interesting to see Blind as an offensive midfielder, is there no end to his versatility?

Player Ratings:

Vermeer (7.5) - half point off for some poor kicking and an almost give away early in the match but solid saves and positioning kept this one from getting out of hand early
Boilesen (6) - strangely unused during the majority of the game but after one poor blunder on defense had a solid match
Moisander (6.5) - rebounded after a poor first half to have a good game
van der Hoorn (6) - was having a very fine match until the 80th minute when he reverted to the scary form that makes one want to do a lot praying
Ligeon (6.5) - positionally all over the place on defense so he gets a little lower of a rating than he might have earned because of the stellar offensive play
Viergever (7.5) - I guess FdB and Overmars were smarter than all of us when they brought him over during the summer; very good in the DM role and the volley goal was excellent
Serero (7) - did push the ball forward compared to last season and drew lots of fouls
Klaassen (7) - thought he was more than decent; had a couple of good through passes early on that sent players in on goal and defended very well
Schöne (7.5) - solid match and his free kicks were spot on
Milik (5.5) - in on goal nicely but couldn't keep the ball, otherwise did very little
Kishna (6) - created some good opportunities that unfortunately were not finished
Blind (6.5) - how much longer will he be wearing an Ajax shirt?
el Ghazi (7) - great cross to Schöne and was looking dangerous on the right side; will he push Schöne to the midfield
Sigthorrsson (NR) - cameo appearance late in the match; really hope someone takes him away this month

Tough matches continue in the opening of this season but this team looks much more assured on offense than last season
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Thought Kishna played quite well. Worked hard and looked dangerous. Maybe should have scored, but it was more good defending than bad finishing on the break away.

Blind was good coming in. Hope we won't lose him yet cause ewe need a guy like him.

Overall not that convincing. We're lucky they scored only one and we can be very happy with four goals scored from the chances we had.

Not a great performance by us but some good goals.Vitesse missed their chances but our defence will be stronger for
Veltman,V Rhijn and Cillessen.Vermeer had a good game but Ligeon was poor in defence.

Schone again important, Viegever looks a decent buy . Haven't seen El Ghazi other than on highlights of A1 last season, but he put in a great cross for the 4th and looks like a real prospect.

Still think we need a quality experienced attacking midfielder.Klaassen doesn't do enough and Serero is just too lightweight a player, decent defending by him though but attacking wise he is not good enough.

From what we saw today, I wonder how our midfield would look like with viergever and blind playing together. I'd rather have klaasen play as a false 9 too.
