Utter rubbish from us. We play 3 at the back with Jan and Toby playing wide and old slow Ooijer in the middle . The first time they are challenged for pace he is left for dead and we are a goal down . Ebecilio along with Janssen should not be on the filed and add nothing .Ooijer is ok for coming on for 10 mins like last week but centre back with just 2 full backs a joke.

We're playing well, but are always trying to force the ball through our wings. The wingers are getting double coverage most times. But they aren't even trying to beat their man on single coverage.

Our defense hasn't been tested at all and only thanks to the moron Lorenzo, we're lagging by a goal. Maybe he thought Mitchell Donald was still on his team.

The only thing I see Jannsen doing is playing some short passes to some other player like 'I'm perplexed; I don't know what to do with this small white thing, please see if you can do something with it'.


Changes for the 2nd - please bring on Aissati for Jannsen and Lodeiro for Ebecilio.

It would not have mattered since Malki had an open man on his left. Even if the central defender would have been faster, the pass was easy enough to make. Not Oojier's fault.

Anita did everything on that goal....pressuring on the Roda winger until he gave up the ball, brought it up into the box, laid it off to Eriksen and then picked up the rebound off the keeper and slotted it in.

during half time, I saw ooijer talking to ebecilio. I thought, maybe he will tell him a couple of words, to pump him up. seems as if he did it. and then in my mind came the thought "what if he was MOTM at the end?"

Well everything went better than expected!! Nice to see Ebicilio redeem himself, like somebody else said, hopefully is the start of a new beginning for him. Anita is great player playing in midfield and Vertonghen is an absolute beast!!! Also, De Jong keeps getting better although sometimes I feel he is a little too slow. Janssen has no reason to be on a football pitch, at least not wearing our colors. That's all I have to say.

what a second half and yes Ebecilio was the star with 3 superb goals . Anita ,who had a great game , was evidently MOM but Ebecilio deserves great credit . Best performance of his career to date . We really did look a different team in the second half ,backed by our great crowd singing them on. Janssen was our worst player as usual and adds nothing to the team . I was maybe a little harsh on Ooijer but I was much more happy with V Rhijn on the right and Toby back in the centre. They really cannot play Ooijer in the centre of a 3 man
back row in future. V Rhijn and Ozbiliz have never had to play 2 games a week until this last month and both played 90 mins of Int on Weds thus Ozbilz looked a little jaded and maybe thats why V Rhijn was only a sub .

Anyway we end up with a win that was more comfortable in the end although apart from their goal Roda really did not threaten. So lets hope PSV v Twente is a draw and we will be up to 4th and 3 points off the top.

Out of the toilet and onto the throne for Ebecilio. Best match of all the attacking players, but Anita is the best player on the pitch today. Rock solid on defense and was in the right place to take the goal after Eriksen's chip in the box was saved. Despite the win which was not easy until the last 25 minutes of the match when Roda were worn down, FdB put a questionable squad out on the field. Bulykin cannot play a full 90 minutes and is the wrong player to be out there when a team is packing everyone back since he has zero mobility. Janssen likewise just cannot move out there.

player ratings:

Vermeer (7) - did everything that had to be done; a couple of good saves and kicking wasn't all that bad
Vertonghen (6) - surprisingly quiet on offense as everything seemed to be played down the right side today
Oojier (6) - can't help being 38 years old and too slow these days but decent match none the less
Alderweireld (6) - very disappointing as a fullback today; crosses were weak
Anita (8) - in the right place at almost every point during the match; kept a cool head covering up for the 3 man back
Janssen (6) - immobile and just doesn't view the field very well; a couple of good free kicks and a decent shot from distance that was blocked
Eriksen (7) - forced the save on the chip that led to Anita's goal and generally picked out the right man to pass to
de Jong (7) - good match today and had a couple of chances that he might have done a little better on
Sulejmani (NR) - on too briefly and hard to tell about the injury
Ozbiliz (6) - everything seemed to go down the right hand side when he was out there but decision making is still not very good
Bulykin (5) - wrong man on the field for this kind of match
Ebecilio (7) - only reason for not giving him an '8' was the lazy pass that led to the Roda goal; great awareness on offense today
Aisatti (6) - really should have done better on the interception, attempted pass to Bulykin was way to early and he had a lot free space to run into
van Rhijn (NR) - not on long enough to give a rating

Club beat back the adversity after the half but questions still remain about FdB's match selection. He is fortunate in having a club which just has much better talent than the opponent which is fine for this kind of match but won't work against PSV or Twente which are the two big fixtures remaining. Weird choice of Janssen who only a week ago was deemed not good enough for the starting lineup. Waalwijk up next.
