oh bugger! Missed most of the second half on little-lunch making duty but I know I didn't miss much.

3 away games in a week taken their toll I suppose - perhaps we can win the Europa League instead though on that form :biggrin.gif: :drecul.gif:
Forza Haarlem. HFC Gone but not forgotten!

Kowalczyk schreef:Excellent. That was the 2009-2010 season, ladies and gents. It was 15 matches long. The remaining 19 are pre-season games for the 2010-2011 campaign.

15 is not bad, you know. We've done worse.

What's for dinner?

I dunno, we've only lost three games this season and they've all been away from home at teams in the top 5. Twente and PSV we were unlucky, we got done today by a physically tough team with a roaring home crowd... it could be worse.

I agree that the chances of winning the title are pretty much gone (9 points at the winter stop...) but in terms of progress since the last few seasons, I'm not disappointed at all. We've made a step in the right direction this season. It's unlucky for us that there are two other teams that have made it through half the season unbeaten, that's all.

I cannot see any real progress - we had a crappy defence - we still have. We hadn't a really creative midfielder - we still haven't. We were reliant on Suarez - we still are (BTW I can now see him going in the January window as he is going to win squat all here). We didn't have a good winger (taking Suarez out of the equation) - we still haven't. We didn't have a Number 10 in the old Ajax tradition - we still don't.
Plus sides is that Demmy has been a great purchase and one that we have been missing since dear old Galasek left us and, that outside of the top three the teams are very poor. We can score hatful of goals against these but come up against a half decent side and we just don't perform.

This hasn't just become clear now - it has been clear from the start of the season. Until we resolve the above problems we will travel along in this type of position. My thoughts are to resolve these though will take a group of players coming through in one go and not as now in drips and drabs.

Seasons greetings from a grumpy old bloke who gets into debt watching this lot every year from the stands.

May he continue to do so for at least another century!

I was just comparing the past two seasons and something very surprising came up -
We are exactly even in the draw and loss column as compared to the first half of last year - 2 draws and 3 losses. We had a terrible second half of the season last year in which we had 3 draws and 5 losses.

I do consider Ajax a verb, and this one, I'm afraid, is past tense. Sure, Ajax used to touch the earth once in a while, but then it was off into the clouds again, inspiring us with soccer that was played nowhere else on the planet. Ajax and realism. Those colors don't match. Ajax was always about idealism. About dreams that nobody else dared to dream.

If we want to keep a small chance for the title, we will have to win each of our games against Twente, Philips, and feydrrd. Otherwise, the rest of the season will be about a CL spot and nothing more.
Appie, stay strong !

I think we need to win ALL the remaining matches and hope for some slip ups. We are in essentially the same position as last year and my hope is that we don't end up crashing out like we did when we had a bad spell.

There are still 18 games to go. It will be tough however I am still very much hopeful. I don't think that Twente will / can keep up this pace. I am more worried about PSV.

I'll feel slightly better if Utrecht can repeat their good play against Twente this weekend.

Don't waste your time & energy worrying about it - we are not going to win the Eredivisie this season.

And that is based on what exactly? Perhaps you should say: "I think we are not going to win the Eredivisie this season.

There are still 18 games left including games against PSV and Twente. Although I also doubt that we will catch up, I do hope that Ajax will end up on top. Even if we were 15 points behind I would still hope so.

My opinion is based on what I have seen so far this season. I, like everybody would love to see them do it but I am not going to spend the next 5 or so months worrying about something that in all probability won't happen.
Of course I cannot be sure that we won't win the Eredivisie and as such I thank you for pointing out a different way of voicing that opinion
