20 SEP 2017 SVV Shevenigen - Ajax Beker Cup

First Cup tie tomorrow night against a club I know little about other than it is a third division team. There has been some controversy about the venue for the match. Shevenigen is the home club but their field only has a seating capacity of 3500 and they said they cannot guarantee security. The match is tentatively moved to ADO's pitch. Because ADO is away to Feyenoord, they do not want any Ajax supporters to travel for fear of possible problems (not clear what the issue is).

I assume Keizer will rest some key players.

Thanks for the correction. I think I copied it from the ESPN website who had it wrong. Unfortunately, on a moderator can correct the title of a thread so it will have to remain wrong. Surprising that Huntelaar is not rested and Cassiera brought into the squad. I would start Dolberg to see if he can get back on track. I remember a Cup match three years ago when Milik scored a bunch of goals and moved into the starting lineup.

I'll get it right one of these days!!! 0-2 at the half Dolberg with a good solo goal and then a nice assist to Siem de Jong for the second right before the half. Cerny had a great chance midway but did poorly with the shot. Here is the lineup for those following the match:

Watching on cricfree, since 20 min,decent stream and widescreen. Siem gets the 2nd just before Ht. A bit earlier Neres and Dolberg were free but Neres was not capable of passing to Dolberg ,goalie got there first.

we should be winning this game 10-0!!

A very poor 2nd half so far by us , an og and no defending giving away a goal. Plenty of passing but no chances Frank de Boer type of football.

1-5 is the final score though some poor finishing from Ajax kept the visitor's score down. Dolberg ended with a hat trick and played some nice football. Neres drew a penalty in the box and was denied a goal as he didn't quite beat his marker who slid the ball into the net for an OG.

Player ratings:

van Leer (6) - had hardly anything to do and the goal conceded was another one resulting from poor defending
Viergever (6) - spent most of his time in the offensive end
Wöber (6) - don't know if he is a LB or central defender, had a decent game
Veltman (6) - played in the middle for the first time in over a year
Orejuela (6) - OK match but the quality of the opponent was poor so we don't know how well he can defend
Schöne (6) - decent enough going the full 90
Eiting (6) - got a good run out in the MF
S de Jong (6.5) - nice headed in goal and some decent passing in the MF
Cerny (5) - weakest player on the pitch for Ajax, missed on a golden chance to score and his passing was sub par
Dolberg (7) - nice game despite getting hacked every time the ball came to him
Neres (6) - a little too lackadaisical on the ball for me
Zeefuik (NR) - on late for Veltman and I can't remember him getting a touch

Back to the league on Sunday hosting Vitesse

Dolberg with 2 late goals , 1 a penalty and it finishes 5-1 . Very poor watching it was like under de Boer.

Our main 4 defence is nothing special ,except de Ligt, but the 2 new lads looked nothing special. Orejuela had one bit of defending to do and it resulted in their goal. Wober didn't have to do much but cannot believe we needed to pay 7.5m when V Drongelen of Sparta cost half that and is playing regularly for Hamburg.

Neres was dreadful , again 12m what a waste of money so far .He has not impressed me much since coming and again I refuse to believe we couldn't find someone in Holland as good for a lot cheaper.

Only positives we won and Dolberg started scoring again.

OK, here is the correct spelling, Scheveningen!!! Looked it up on Wikipedia and it's known for a nice beach and light house. Former Ajax gaffer Martin Jol (in attendance today) is from here!!!

I agree with SPL. Game was quite boring and maybe players were coasting.

Great how the amateurs from Swift who play at Olympiaplein in Amsterdam Zuid have eliminated Vitesse, the cup winner of the 2016 - 2017 is now out in the first round.

These amateurs from Swift have now drawed a game against Feyenoord in de Kuip and for Ajax an away game against De Dijk came out, this is also one of the stronger amateur clubs in Amsterdam.

We are drawn away to ASV De Dijk from Schellingwoude North Amsterdam, (the most easterly suburb of the North side of Amsterdam) Their ground holds about 1500 but they are talking of playing in the Olympic Stadium. The club has ambitions of becoming Amsterdam's no 2 club and building a new ground in North Amsterdam. They were promoted to the 2nd Division this year ( 3rd level)

The other main non league Amsterdam club in the 2nd division is AFC (Amsterdamsche FC) who play in Buitenveldert ,just south of the RAI . We played a friendly v them before the 2016/17 season.

Ajax amateurs play in the 5th level along with this club Swift . Have to say I have never heard of them but they play on a little ground holding 1000 next to the Olympic stadium.

Hope they have a great night v Feyenoord .Beating Vitesse was a great giant killing .
