Well we held on.Mega important that we got to the final .Overall 2 legs we were better although a poor 2nd half tonight with Viergever and Veltman dreadful.
Viergever misses the final but Veltman sadly will play. BT commentators saying Tete had made a difference.

Ziyech Traore Veltman Viergever all poor games imo. I would think Tete having Raiola as agent is the reason he does not getting played over a very moderate Veltman. Just the final left for me to endure Traore, a complete waste of space and why we took Younes off ,at least he went back and defending.

The youngsters of Ajax held on by their fingernails. Tete is my MOTM even though he played about a half hour. He was in on three key defensive plays that preserved the win. Everyone else was at sixes and sevens and quite poor. Bosz needs to realize that Veltman and Viergever cannot play fullback at this level. Traore took two great scoring chances away from Klaassen with some selfish play in the middle. ManU hung on against Celta drawing 1-1 at home as Bailly was sent off with a Red card so he misses the final along with Viergever.

Player Ratings:

Bosz (4) - didn't start Tete and with Schöne have to come off was hamstrung for subs

Onana (8) - great save and good goalkeeping today
Viergever (2) - two poor challenges and out of position constantly
de Ligt (6.5) - yes, 17 year olds can make mistakes but he shrugged things off and had a decent match
Sanchez (7) - strong all game long and that run with the ball down field at the end of the match was surprising
Veltman (4.5) - could not defend against anyone coming down his line but did have a good saving clearance in the first half on what should have been a goal
Schöne (4) - mediocre and needs to make way for more active players
el Capitan (5.5) - worked hard all game and should have had two clear shots on goal had it not been for Traore
Ziyec (5) - pretty average
Younes (4.5) - great pass to Dolberg for the goal that won the tie but otherwise not so good other than tracking back on defense which he gets a plus for
Dolberg (5.5) - cool on the goal but clumsy on some other plays
Traore (3.5) - too predictable and did a poor job of containing the full back on his side allowing Lyon to overload that side of the pitch
van de Beek (6.5) - played very well and had a rocket off the cross bar
Tete (8) - too bad he's not going to be around; he's so much better than Veltman that it's not even funny
Kluivert (5.5) - on late for Younes and added some speed which was cancelled out when Viergever was sent off

First final in a Euro competition since the loss to Juventus in the 1996 Champions League final. Bring on ManU!!!

Tete was miles better than Vetlman. Riedewald has been decent as a left back so given he has no more options, Bosz has toplay him thank god. Of course Veltman will get the start because Bosz doesn't understand the importance of the wingback position and just puts a slow hacker there. Anyway, this is something historic for Ajax, the fact we can still compete in Europe. I know, its not the prestigious champions league but we can build from this. I love this club, always

Let's enjoy the moment! I have been on Ajax forums, supporting Ajax since 1996-97 since then we have experienced pain and anguish! But for the first time ever we are able to enter a thread of Ajax in a European final. And that my friends is a great feeling!

Bosz has a clear idea of what he likes, his inverted wingers, his very limited wingbacks, his "deep lying" playmaker. Wtih some exceptions he will always try to play more experienced players, despite their limitations. Only De Ligt and Dolberg get a pass here, and I believe that to be because he has no more options. He won't change this. I do believe we can really hurt a poor Man United side with a much more fresh approach.

I can't say much about the formation Mourinho might put on the 24th because he clearly doesn't have an idea what his best team is. Lately he's been deploying a 4-3-3, but it has not created good results for him so he might be thinking of changing this, they were abysmal against Celta in their home ground. The midfield will most likely include Pogba and Ander Herrera, that's for sure, other than that there's very little certainty how his team might look. Fellaini could be an option in order to take advantage of his height and win lots of aerials against us (I've said it here before, we are not great in the aerial department). For some reason he doesn't play Juan Mata, who's probably their most consistent creative player when he does get minutes. If Mata plays we could be in trouble, as he is smart and good passer. If he plays Rooney, that will be good for us as he has been terrible.

Herrera will tackle hard and in his best days he can be quite a catalyst, put a lot of pressure against us. Van de Beek is the best option to counter him, I don't see Schone matching him in terms of energy and dynamism. Younes could be a good option against a right back like Valencia who in his best days is quite the roadrunner, but Neres and Kluviert could have a field day against a regular left back like Darmian or Rojo. What Traore showed today was way too poor to be of any danger against Man United. I know Bosz will not play our much more talented kids but e could have more of a shot with wingers like Neres or Kluviert against a poor left flank for United.

Well after the stress and being drained watching us last night it is a great feeling being in a European Final again.The football world is talking about Ajax and its young players again. I will hope we dont play Traore and Veltman v Man u ,both are poor as shown last night.Overmars quoted yesterday that Tete wont be staying,thats a football crime.

I dont fear Manu ,a very over hyped side playing boring football.Lets beat them and then Mourinho will really have something to moan about.

Have to be honest and say I enjoyed Guidetti's miss in the 96th minute in the other game. I also enjoyed Mourinho *already* whingeing about how unfair it is that Ajax have a week off before the final...
