A bit hard on de LIgt he is a 17 year old with no experience at this level.. Certainly would not pick Westermann over him.

Agree completely and it's very difficult coming in to a match and playing with three other backline players who don't play with each other regularly. de Ligt is probably the best central defender Ajax have developed in a number of years!SPL schreef:A bit hard on de LIgt he is a 17 year old with no experience at this level.. Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Re: 8 DEC 2016 Standard Liege - Ajax EL Group G Match 6
A bit late, but here are some statistics to understand how Ajax played a little bit more in depth.
Positives
Most shots at goal: From Barbacoas, in the southwestern frontier of Colombia, my other compatriot, Mateo Casierra with 4, but only one on target. El Ghazi had 3 shots with two on target including the goal.
Most amount of Possession %: Donny van de Beek with 11.5%.
Best pass success%: A tie between Nouri and Riedewald both with 93% success.
Most amount of accurate passes: Jairo Riedewald with 90.
Most amount of key passes: Donny van de Beek with 6
Most amount of successful dribbles: Amin Younes with 5 (attempted 9 in total).
Most amount of tackles: Matthijs de Ligt with 5. Very well done.
Most amount of interceptions: Matthijs de Ligt with 3. Officially making him the best defensive player of the evening for Ajax.
Most amount of clearances: You guessed it, Matthijs de Ligt with 12.
Most amount of blocks: A tie between Riedewald and Dijks with 3.
Most aerial duels won: A tie between Matthijs de Ligt and Anwar el Ghazi both with 6.
Negatives
Worst pass success %: A tie between Davy Klaassen and Diederik Boer with 70%.
Least amount of possession of the ball: Mateo Casierra with 1.5%.
Player that was dribbled past the most: A tie between Van de Beek and Tete with two, and both attempted 6 tackles in total.
Player who committed the most amount of fouls: Matthijs de Ligt with 4.
Player who lost possession the most amount of times: Tete who lost possession 7.
Goalkeeper
Boer had 2 saves and 1 claim of the ball. No clean sheet.
I thought Van de Beek was quite the boss in the midfield, and might be pushing for a starting position. 6 key passes is pretty good and Bosz should start taking notice. He outshined Davy Klaassen by a mile. Van de Beek, Ziyech and Schöne would be a pretty dynamic and creative midfield.

A little hard to see but here is the passing map for the game. You can see the interplay between Riedewald and van de Beek. Also Ajax were more active down the right side than in any other match I can remember this season. the major disappointment is that Ajax was expected to win the match according to 11tegen11's algorithm (1.75 to 0.75).
