Agree about Ziyech. as for Veltman Bosz wants a full back who can attack so Veltman plays and not Tete.Veltman is moderate at attack and defence.Tete is moderate in attack but a brilliant defender.
Not impressed by Bosz one bit.We are if anything worse than with de Boer last season. The defence is a lot weaker for a start although Sanchez looks good.

IIRC, Ziyech used to float around the field at Twente finding openings that he could use to his advantage. I think Bosz would like to use him in this position but isn't sure how to do this. It looks like Riedewald will be the DM for this season and Bosz has stated that this is his best position. So we are left with two MFs and a right wing to put players. Both Gudelj and Klaassen are disasters at present. Klaassen admitted that he played poorly last night. el Ghazi looks to be on the outs right now and I don't like Traore on the right wing so by default Ziyech ends up there. As long as both Gudlej and Klaassen play together this team is going to be mediocre at best. Despite Klaassen being able to score goals, I don't think he's good enough overall. With Ziyech we don't need Gudelj to take free kicks. Three round holes to fill and lots of square pegs.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

However Gudelj last night looked to me as one of our best players. Marked a lot, went after the ball even on the wing etc. Maybe he feels the pressure on him
May the Force be with you

Nothing will improve until we stop playing with wingers. Sorry, but it's time for Ajax to crawl into the 21st century.
I know wingers are part of Ajax's identity, blah blah blah, but when teams like Willem II can prevent us from making chances just by forcing us wide, it's time to change up.

Yes many stupid fouls by both teams.Orange14 schreef:What a disaster of a victory though maybe it will force some of these players to wake up. The overall play was quite bad across the board. Stupid fouls by both teams and a couple of very weak calls by Andre Marriner who is usually a dependable referee.
Onana (5) - poor decision to punch on the goal but redeemed himself late in the game as he parried Berg's cross away; it was a difficult play as he had to hold his position as an attacker was coming in for a header but missed it
Big mistake from Onana to give away the 1-0 but a positive thing that it didn't bring him down, he managed to keep his head up high and saved us a couple times later in the game.
Positive thing is that we now have three points after one away game, much better than the start last season (2-2 in Amsterdam Arena against Celtic, 1-1 in Norway against Molde.)

I like Onana. A 19 year old goalie is always going to make some wrong decisions but his shot stopping seems OK and his passing is quite good. Haven't seen him enough to know what he's like on crosses/corners yet, what's the impression from Jong games?Cruijff schreef:Big mistake from Onana to give away the 1-0 but a positive thing that it didn't bring him down, he managed to keep his head up high and saved us a couple times later in the game.
