Damn that was a nice cross by Willems. No chance for Cillessen. Defense did almost enough but Klaassen was just a couple of cm too short.

I'm exhausted watching that.Thought once they scored they would win,but a great free kick and then a class goal by ElGhazi.

Best performance of the season by us and the defence were very good. Viegever has to be given a run so Moisander can sit on the bench.

Everyone was a hero today. Defending was more than decent all match long. Wingers dropped back to double team which they needed to do. Counter attacks were taken when available and wonderful goals were scored.

Player Ratings:

Cillessen (7.5) - a couple of dodgy punches but otherwise well positioned
Boilesen (7.5) - really good defending for a change and did go forward when it was offered
Viergever (7.5) - positioning was good and only the silly tackle that resulted in a Yellow marred his performance
Veltman (8) - excellent performance again, never out of position and had a nice run into the box when the field was open before him
van Rhijn (7.5) - faced off against both Willems and Memphis and did the job asked of him
Serero (7.5) - good controling things just ahead of the defense
Bazoer (7) - a couple poor decisions on offense but otherwise strong
Klaassen (8) - just wonderful defending and won every ball that was contested in his area
Kishna (7.5) - great run on the cross from el Ghazi to get the first goal
Milik (7.5) - worked really hard and hope he came off just as a precaution
el Ghazi (8.5) - great cross on the first goal and what a finish on the third plus he tracked back all match long helping to keep both Memphis and Willems under control
Schöne (8.5) - came in controlled the ball and delivered two wicked free kicks just what a subsitute needs to do
Andersen (7.5) - why oh why did I even question FdB's choice here; did an excellent job defending and controlling the ball
Riedewald (NR) - on too late and I don't think he even touched the ball

Really good win and we are now poised to run out the table and win the Europa League and perhaps even the Eredivisie with a little luck from our friends. Excelsior at home next Sunday.

I wouldn't get carried away over the win. Truth be told, they ran us ragged pretty much the whole game. It was all hands to the pumps, defending in desperation.Credit to us, we didn't crack, and I'm happy to get the 3 points, but a reverse score would have been more indicative of the actuality.

Good point! We deserved to win that one but they pinched it on the counter.

In any case it's a big three points, gap is back to six after AZ having narrowed it to three before kickoff. MotM? For me a toss-up between Klaassen and el Ghazi.

Really nice to hear our 1.200 Ajax fans much more noise than a complete PSV stadium all 45 minutes long!
