Re: 01 Dec 2012: Ajax - PSV
Great finish by Fischer and also setting up Hoesen. PSV were made to look a very moderate side although the goalie was very poor and V Bommel was lucky not to geta 2nd yellow.
4 points off the top and we are always better after the winter break.

Re: 01 Dec 2012: Ajax - PSV
WOW!!! Narsingh is man of the match!!! The voters liked his dive or haircut?
Re: 01 Dec 2012: Ajax - PSV
Despite some dumb give aways that conceded some dangerous counter attacks, PSV were thoroughly outplayed today. Their back four were just too weak all match long and Ajax had one of their better passing days this season. We were fortunate that Lens missed badly when the score was still 1-1 but Fischer quickly put an end to any dreams PSV might have had. Just a well played match and FdB got the tactics completely right with the three man back line.
Player Ratings:
Vermeer (7) - didn't have to do much until the last 20 minutes of the match and then made some good saves. Maybe his positioning unnerved Lens, who knows?
Blind (7) - decent match as a fourth midfielder, had a nice shot on goal that was nicely saved; made the right passes today
Moisander (7) - asked to go forward a lot because of the tactics; very solid match
Alderwiereld (7) - good match on defense as the lone central defender; maybe he took ill during the match, I didn't see him get hurt
van Rhijn (6) - gets a little bump up because of good play after the problematic points in the first half followed by a good 2nd half
Poulsen (6.5) - had a couple of dicey give aways but otherwise strong controlling the midfield on defense
Eriksen (7.5) - another very strong match on the ball and really connected with his passes
de Jong (7) - good match today maybe could have done better when he got the ball in a dangerous position in the 2nd half
Fischer (7.5) - would have been an 8 except for some soft give aways, otherwise a totally solid match; he's the left winger from here on out
Hoesen (7) - instinctively went to the right position to get the cutback pass from Fischer
Boerrigter (7) - better match today and a bit unlucky with a couple of his shots
Sana (6) - really did not have much of an impact coming on in the 2nd half
Veltman (6.5) - not tested much coming in for Toby
Schöne (6.5) - did well possessing the ball in the closing minutes
On to Madrid to beat Mourinho on Tuesday and then face Groningen in the league. We've got everybody right where we want them!
FORZA Ajax!

Not sure how Narsingh gets the vote ahead of Fischer the kid made the difference and yet a month ago was still playing for our A1 youths!! When he sits down to talk about a contract extension after Christmas I think Ajax will be needing to offer him a lot more money this kid look special to me.

If you saw the stats, it said Lens 37 shots/4 goals. That's why!Orange14 schreef: Vermeer (7) - didn't have to do much until the last 20 minutes of the match and then made some good saves. Maybe his positioning unnerved Lens, who knows?

That's why Vermeer play was very good in that moment. Some keeper would probably rush forward and occasionaly make a professional foul or something like that. So giving an opponent opportunity to make a mistake was the right decision.souras84 schreef:If you saw the stats, it said Lens 37 shots/4 goals. This was fantastic.
Ajax were all over them, played them off the park.
There was nothing pretty or nice about PSV.

Re: 01 Dec 2012: Ajax - PSV

Well, we certainly know which Ajax turned up to the match last night! It was the best atmosphere in the Arena for ages, the team played at a high tempo, this is why Eriksen took a couple of breaks during the game.
Lovely to see the younger players taking more responsibility, and the quality of the finishing from Hoesen and Fischer was great....really made the trip worthwhile, again!!!
Let's hope that this is the start of another title-winning run......
Roll on next game!!!

Re: 01 Dec 2012: Ajax - PSV
Yep, really good win. I thought Eriksen and de Jong were excellent. Fischer was also pretty good although he made a few bad decisions with the ball, but at his age he can be forgiven for that. Our defence, Alderweireld in particular, also had a very strong game—even Poulsen did well although I recall him being caught out for pace on one PSV counter.
PSV had a very clear plan to draw Blind or van Rhijn forward then press and quickly counter, which is why they weren't putting pressure on high up the pitch and Moisander had so much space to come forward. We've had problems in the last few games giving the ball away and getting sucker-punched but last night we mostly kept the ball in midfield very well or won it back quickly and PSV didn't get too many opportunities. Lens could have punished us on that one-on-one but that would have been pretty unlucky given our dominance and the number of chances we made.

P.S. I think Alderweireld says here he had a stomach ache and couldn't concentrate, hence he had to come off.
Re: 01 Dec 2012: Ajax - PSV
Fischer wasn't really impressed by Van Bommel

Hilarious. And good to see one of our youngsters standing up to the dirtiest player in Europe.Benji schreef:Fischer wasn't really impressed by Van Bommel

Van Bommel looked like a tired old man throughout the game - and played like one, too.

Van Bommel intends to become a rugby player. He should be successful.

Been busy and haven't been around much.
Only managed to watch this in its entirety this morning.
I'm spewing about how Van Bommel managed to stay on the park despite his actions in between 56-59mins. What a thug!
And thank f**k we didn't sign Narsingh.
