Don't get me wrong, I think our chances are probably about as good as Twente's, although you have to remember they need only draw. But we've noted time and again that our team lacks 'mental toughness' (balls), so the idea of Twente wilting under the pressure whilst we confidently stride to victory doesn't seem very realistic to me. Happy to be proven wrong!

If we win, I expect it will be close.

I checked the odds on Bodog and the punters have us as pretty solid favorites. The atmosphere at the ArenA is going to be electric. I hope they close the roof so it gets loud as hell. Twente (and more importantly the ref) are going to be under immense pressure. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I think we'll win.

I'm not going to venture any predictions. One thing I will note however, the last match I was at in person was Ajax-Twente was 32 years ago. I was finishing up a two year fellowship at the State University in Utrecht and Ajax led Feyenoord going into the final match day by 3 points. A draw would have been sufficient to win the championship that season but the club exceeded everyone's expectations by thrashing Twente 8-1. I can't remember who scored that day and I think only Ruud Krol was left from the Cruyff teams of the early 1970s.

i don't think i will be able to watch this one live. i promised my co-worker to do a race for the cure on sunday, not realizing when i signed up for it that the game will be on the 15th. i'm still very tempted to be "sick" though. i really want to see it live.
i hope espn3 doesn't screw me over and does provide a recording so that i can watch it as soon as i get back. i will lose it if we win and i can't see the replay.

This is a bad omen. Whatever happened to "sorry but it turns out that Ajax is playing"? Sure hope this doesn't jinx the whole thing. Perhaps you can buy a mobile device that will enable you to watch while you're walking but come up with something, because this is exactly the kind of attitude that Twente are hoping for.
Otherwise contact joey by PM for he has extensive experience with doing something else during match time while still getting Ajax to win the game.

About those odds. At first, that's what I thought as well. Unfortunately the opposite is true. Since Twente can win or tie the odds on Twente is the sum of them winning plus them tying. That sum is quite a bit higher than the odds of Ajax winning.

Perhaps my personal logic is more reassuring; "we are Ajax and we play at home so we will win".

i actually thought i would jinx it if i watch it. maybe the almighty might take pity on me and ajax if i do the cancer walk. it's a tough call. i have watched the games the two seasons when we lost it by a goal and last season by a point. i don't think i can take another loss. however, i do have a nice six pack in the fridge and girlfriend will be out of the house.

Surely Ajax are destined for their 30th Eredivisie title... PSV will win at Groningen...so they will enter the qualifying stage of the CL. Twente can be proud even if they finish 3rd.

I just subscribed to a new cable system (AT&T - I'm in the USA) and one of the channels I receive with the Spanish package is ESPN Deportes. I was planning on watching the game online but I just found out that the game will be shown live on ESPN Deportes. I hope this helps someone out there...

I hope I don't jinx things by not being able to watch live (though I'm never quite sure if it's actually the other way round). Going to a three year old's birthday party (wooh hooh) so will miss the game but the real dilema I have is over whether to check on the score or wait till 2130 tonight when ESPN show the game.

I suspect I've still got the capacity to jinx things whatever happens......
