Funny line during the telecast. In the 14th minute or so, a very loud firework expolosion could be heard. The presenter , I believe it was Alan McInally , said that was Big Martin Jol giving the lads an early rocket .

What relief at the end those last 7 mins after the stupid penalty were the longest ever . As for the goals well Suarez is a magician and I do hope that Jol tells Sulejmani he is staying . Urby cannot defend to save his life and Eriksen is not ready for this level .

And oh yes there is Steks MOM what a great game , probably his best. Thank goodness no one has bought him .He really saved us tonight .

Guys, I had a very weird day. My company spent the day in a spot called Battery East, which is now a nature preserve in the Presidio of San Francisco, in full view of the bay, Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz, and (today) a $200M Russian yacht. It's a ridiculously beautiful place. We were there as a "team building" exercise, clearing weeds and restoring native plants. (Basically doing this.) It's a hippy thing, I don't expect you to understand. Anyway...

I was halfway down an embankment, pulling up a large hemlock by its roots, when some teenager appeared on the ridge and shouted down to me, "Hey, Ajax won, 2-1!"

It was so utterly out of context, I almost thought I was dreaming. Apparently, one of my co-workers met this Dutch tourist on the path above the slope and told him I was an Ajax fan. So the kid decided to tell me the good news. Only bummer is, I had my TV set to record the game, so it kind of spoiled my anticipation. But what the f*ck, who cares!? Good news, at THE most unlikely moment.

Best night last night, both Ajax and Spurs are through and can't play each other in the groups so no conflict of interest! :) Far more proud of Ajax though because when I saw Kiev i did think we were finished. So so happy with this.
