Henderson wants to return to England but if he signs for an English side before 6th April,the new tax year, he will have to pay millions in tax on his Saudi earnings. To return to Europe now its Ajax or Leverkursen.Dont think we should try and break the bank to sign him ,even on loan.

It was the same thing the club did back in 2012 bringing in Christian Poulsen though that was a free transfer.

Henderson would be a hugh signing as long as we dont spend silly money. I have said before I dont rate our Mf , Hlynsson Misehouy and Vos are good back ups but not ready to be starters .Every game our MF looks weak and this must put more pressure on a weak defence.

How the hell can Ajax afford him?? His salary now is MORE than the entire first team squad..just that fact won't bode very well with the squad!!
How can a player of his age justify that dort of expenditure?
The last high salary 'leader' was Tadic...an excellent leader, player and ambassador for the club, but at his peak was 'only' paid a reported €65,000 a week...a tenth of what Henderson's getting now!
The last influx of players ruined the team! If Henderson is brought in on high salary, he'll break the club!!

Bergwijn and Berghuis are on 4m plus so Henderson at most will earn 5m. He was earning 12m in Saudi Arabia tax free and reports say he is taking a hugh cut to sign for us.

Sounds like he will be signing tomorrow so lets wait and see. We can now sell Tahirovic and send Mannverk back to Norway on loan both signed as DMF .Vos can be back up.

Well I didn’t think this was going to happen for a moment, and now it’s official.

My recollection of Henderson is that he’s a strong and physical type of midfielder but not that technical. In theory, not the Ajax type of player, but we could actually use a bit of a presence in the MF. Will be interesting to see how this works out.

We need a breaker with some passing ability or a deep lying playmaker who can tackle a bit. Alvarez was the first type and Frenkie/Schone were the other type. Currently we have none. If Henderson can be a bit of the type Alvarez and marshall the troops (like he used to at Liverpool), we would've solved one of our bigger problems. Our MF this year has been quite atrocious to put it nicely.

I do see triangles back at least in the passmaps under JVS. So, hoping that Hendo can help us connect our forwards with the defense a bit more.

I don't think they break out income from shirt sales, but they do have a line in the financials on marketing income. For the 2023 FY it was €36M which was highest in the Eredivisie.

Funny that Henerson's first thought was he could get his old #14 shirt back before realizing that it was Cruyff's number and had been retired!

I hope someone at Ajax did some scouting. At 33 it’s possible to be past it physically so I really hope they watched him play before signing him. We will find out soon enough.

Julian Rijkoff is signing today from Dortmund. 1.4m plus 1m add ons and signs to 2028. He left in January 2021 on his 16th birthday but has decided he would be better off coming home and making it with us. Will likely finish the season with Jong Ajax

Good signing IMO. Hopefully Brobbey stays for at least another couple years and then Rijkoff can play sub appearances for that period and then ideally become the #1.
